I for one agree with him. I like this part the best:

Humans must develop an interface that allows the human brain to be directly connected to a computer, so that the artificial brain contributes to human intelligence, rather than opposing it.

PUHLEASSEEE, The smartest man alive? HAH. Think about it, if you were in his position and had the intellect he posseses, would you spend endless hours in thought about the rings of saturn or something equally pointless? HECK NO! The number one thought on my super genius mind would be figuring how to get the fvck out of that wheelchair!!!!

Well, he's not a neurosurgeon or anything of the sort. He's a theoretical physicist. He has no expertise when it comes to neurosurgery or anything of that sorts. He knows physics, and that's what he does.

I think he's one of the smartets man alive, if not the smartest.

BTW. Did you know that he likes Star Trek ;)?

I hope you're kidding? He is a *physicist*, not a medical scientist. Being of genius level doesn't automatically assimilate the knowledge of all complex fields in the world. Being a genius doesn't mean you can sit there and think of ways to cure cancer, Lou Gehrig's disease, or any other disease.

<< I think Hawking's voice synthesizer has taken over! >>

Yeah, we're actually hearing the musings of three twelve-year-olds from Peoria, IL whose parents went away for the weekend.

Machines are getting smarter, but will get smart enough to do things without us? Sure, but we'll be the ones dictating how far they can go. I think it'll be a LONG time before we can machines that "think" on their own and will try to dominate us.

Yeah, i read this article yesterday, and what BS. Hawkings has really gone nuts since he left his wife to marry his nurse.
