Is there anything for the adventurous to do in Maui or Kauai?

Like base jumping or kayaking or white water rafting or parasailing?

Base jumping... not so sure about that. Kayaking - yeah, in the ocean. I think they're kind of expensive to rent. White water rafting - no. Parasailing - I think so. You could take a Jeep tour over on Lanai, that was pretty cool. It'd probably blow your budget though. The ferry over from Maui is $50 a head, and it cost me $140 to rent the Jeep for a day.

I gave that some thought but I don't know what Maui camping would be like...a snake crawling into my sleeping bag would scare me to death.

They have a few cabins for rent at Hapuna State Park. It's one of the best beaches in the world and from what I recall, the cabins are dirt cheap.

I will definitely have to google those cabins.

That's just one person's perspective. I'm probably a little leery of staying there until I read a little more.

I went snorkeling at Molokini Crater, it was absolutely amazing. But, I'm an Alaskan and being able to swim in the ocean is a real treat!

There are cheap condos on every island for around your budget.
If you want some good deals, i can PM you with the site we used when we booked our wedding and our upcoming trip this may/june.
They are by far the CHEAPEST. just let me know!

Condos are the way to go but a lot of them require at least six nights stay. For a hotel you might want to try the Maui Beach Hotel. Their rooms go for ~$110/night IIRC. It's not great but it's not a flop house either and it's close to a pretty nice beach. I've never seen it crowded there.

That said, Kahului isn't where I'd want to stay if I came here on vacation but the place does have a pool and it's cheap by Maui standards.

Check here for condos... http://www.mymauicondos.com/

If you stay someplace other than West Maui or Kihei (Wailea and Makena are OUT on your budget) you'll want to rent a car so you can drive to the good places. A three day car rental will probably run you $120 or so.

Golf at all? Try Pukalani. Nice course and I think you can get a round with a cart for under $70.

Have you an opinion of the Austin Maui Lu?
I was able to get a rate of $130/night.

Is it located to anywhere near the Seven Sacred Pools or any calm waters to swim in?
