Having trouble setting up home server with DynDNS

I'll say right off the bat that I know almost nothing about advanced networking. I know how to forward ports and do other basic stuff, and that's about it.

I set up a home server running Xubuntu 8.10 and Apache/PHP/MySQL. Everyone works fine, and I'm able to access everything without problems through the static local network address (192.168.1.3). However, I want to have it accessible from outside the network so that I can host my website. I signed up for DynDNS and used the "auto detect IP" feature in the host name setup. However, the IP that was detected, when accessed through my DynDNS domain, leads me to my router login page. I've checked my IP on a few different sites and it's consistent so I'm not sure what the problem is.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Your router probably has an option to remote manage it which is running on port 80. Check its config and:

a) Change the port to something else say 8080
b) Setup a port forward on port 80 to the IP address (internal IP address) of your home server

Did you actually tried to access the Network from the outside?

Many Router do no support going out and coming back on the same Network.

I.e. you have to go to a friend or from work or amy other place that is really outside of your Network.
