Having trouble finding GeForce Go 6150 Drivers

Hi,

I've been looking for recent GeForce Go 6150 Drivers for a while now. I tried laptop2go.com, because of a post on another forum, however their drivers are not detailed enough for me, and I'm not sure what I'd be downloading.

I have an HP/Compaq Presario v3010us, with the driver version 6.14.0010.8622 (English), the driver date is 8/25/2006, so it's obviously outdated. When going to the HP site, it only offers me drivers from 2006.

I tried to update them about a year ago, but had given up due to not finding any. I recently started playing World of Warcraft again and am getting some low FPS in the Outlands and would like to see if updated drivers would solve this problem (or alleviate it).

Not sure what other information you guys would need to help me out, but I'll be looking at this post a few times daily and I'll try to give you what you need. If you could please help me, finding laptop video drivers is a pain.

Thanks a bunch,

Patrick

laptopvideo2go is the only place to find such a thing afaik. the process is quite simple, I have used it to update the driver in my toshiba tablet.

"Basically it's a 3-step process:
1. Download driver, double click and select extract,
2. Download modded INF and replace original INF in extracted folder,
3. Install & reboot."

they use a modified .inf file to allow the driver to work on your system. The driver already works because of the unified driver architecture, just for some reason nvidia doesnt include all of the models in the .inf file.

For example(kinda)

the inf may list
8800
7800
6600
5200
and all they do is place your model in the list of allowed models.
8800
7800
6600
(6150)
5200

try the ones listed here

My problem was that I couldn't figure out which one was for my graphics card. I clicked on your link, but I'm not sure it's for the GF Go 6150.

Should I use the "Check for Drivers" option on the site?

right below this on the page

Operating System: Windows XP / 2000
Driver Version: 84.25 (8.4.2.5)
Driver Date: 03/17/2006
Driver Size: 16.6MB
Driver Released by: NVIDIA
MS WHQL Certificate:
Setup Files Included:
International Files :

you will see a box with all of the listed models supported by that version driver.

@Harvey, thanks for taking the time to find those, however all I see in the Windows XP link is:

NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 Graphics Driver:
Version: 8.4.8.7 A -- 09-2006 -- 26.88MB

Which is what I found when I tried as well, and they are from 2006.

i guuess the ones i linked to are older than the ones you have, but you get the idea. Just look for a newer version and make sure the go6150 is listed as ok.

Mozart, go back and use the .inf mod, then you can use the latest Nvidia drivers for your device. I've done this dozens of times on notebooks, and it's always perfect.

Thanks guys, I got it now. I'll try the laptop2go.com website tomorrow and find the newest files.

Thanks for all the help.

I spent some time looking through the files in the forums and foundv171.16 XP 32bit.

I couldn't find any files that specifically mention the GeForce Go 6150, only the:

[DEV_0247] NVIDIA GeForce Go 6100

Do you think this driver would do the trick as well? Otherwise I'd have to look at some older ones from the end of 2006 and the beginning of 2007.
