I never used to have this problem until about a 1 year ago but somehow I developed this habit. I thought it was the new dog that I got causing some minor allergy issues.
I have this problem especially with the authority figures... like my boss. I admit it's in part due to the anxiety and the fact that I'm not used to speaking in multiplex shared cubicles where everyone can hear you. Will he think I'm some socially inept loser?
Any ways to fix this?
I wish I had my own private cubicle with high walls like at my last internship

Speak in front of people more so you loose the anxiety.
Drink more during the day so your throat isn't so dry and scratchy.

Are you chewing gum or sucking on a mint?

Some sugar free gums make me clear my throat like crazy and occationally cough if I constantly chew a fresh piece. They irritate the mucus membranes in my airway.

Whenever I have throat phlegm, a quick rinse with listerine usually does the trick. A piece a gum also works.

For someone who has post-nasal drip, it's a constant problem. I finally identified that it's what I've had for the last, oh...20 years or so. I always assumed everyone else had phlegm constantly. In the winter, there's nothing I can do, but in pollen season, Singulair seems to help a great deal (winter stuff is caused by heat, summer is pollen and allergies). I can't take antihistamines b/c of dry eyes.

If you're worried about talking in front of people, join a local Toastmasters club. I have no experience with them myself, but I've heard it's a good way to get in front of people and make speeches, essentially. I used to talk in front of people constantly so I have little fear anymore.
