Having Problems with Windows XP

Alright, so I got on my computer today and found my entire desktop looking like the Windows 98 style. With the gray bars instead of the colorful blue ones. I tryed to fix it by going into Appearance Settings but it won't show anything but the Windows Classic style. Anyone know what's going on?

First of all, are you sure you're running XP? Someone could have made a mistake.

I'm pretty sure it's not in safe mode. And yes, I'm running XP.

Just found out that in addition to the style or XP changing, my sound wont work.

Re-Installl it.

start > run
type in services.msc
go down to "themes"
check to see if it is on automatic or not.

if it says disabled, put it to automatic. reboot.
