Going back to San jose and since this comp is for my bro, need help ASAP before I leave.

Pretty sure this is related to the problem with cache not being flushed in time. I went to regedit and tried to change the shutdown delay, but that didn't help. Neither did the patch on MS website. Only affects the extra data disk(maxtor 40 gb), but really annoying.

I disabled scandisk for now, but since this is a temporary fix, was wondering if this problem would begin to corrupt data???

Thanks for your help :)

Is it confusing? I get scandisk every time I reboot. No crashing, just straight reboot.

Turn off "run scandisk after bad shutdown" in msconfig(advanced props) if you using a win9x variant.

What someone said - turn off "Scandisk after a bad shutdown". Scandisk is a slow crappy program anyway, use Norton Disk Doctor (part of Norton Utilities suite).

Scandisk is so crappy, it interrupts itself and starts over when used in Windows (yes, I know, it detects when something performs a disk-write, and it has to start over, but Norton Disk Doctor does not have this problem).
