Hi, it is until now that my Plextor 40x has been acting up. I would put a CD in and when trying to install a game, it would start the install and then BSOD pops up saying "Read Error no CDROM found, if CDROM is in drive it may need cleaning" (something like that). I tried different CDs and its not reading any of it (like it used to). When I tried putting it in my DVD drive, it works. The drive is on the same SCSI chain as my burner and the burner has been burning as usual. Come to think of it, I haven't used the CDROM (till now) ever since I reinstalled Windows a few weeks ago. Someone know what the problem might be?

Its a Plextor 40x version 1.04
I have 2 SCSI drives on a Tekram 390 card
I recently installed a DVD drive thats IDE
Would there be any chance that the IDE is causing this problem?
The Plex 40x is now having problems reading CDS completely. I tried copying a few files to HD and it would stop after 3 seconds popping up "Unable to copy from source...etc".
Please help if you can.

That'd be pretty unusual.

Is the Plextor new?
If not, how much use does it get, and how old is it?
Are you a smoker?

The lens might need cleaning.

Ok, it seems this problem is really strange. It turns out that it wasn't the CDROM that was having problems. It was both my SCSI drives (CDROM and CDR). It would not work, the CDROM would not read, the CDR would not burn. So then I restarted my computer, and then it seemed to work again. But it seems when the DVD drive (is used or activated), the SCSI drives would then start to not work again. I think one problem might lead to this, I have a Thunderbird CPU. But I am still using a 250 power supply. I know its pretty weak. Would this be a problem that might be causing this "drives conflict", too low of power supply and running 3 CD drives and 2 hard drives?
