I was having problems with not being able to access email in Windows XP. This just started a week ago. I disabled Norton anti-virus, rebooted and it works fine. This is the second strange problem that NAV has caused. The other problem was under Window ME. Sometimes my printer wouldn't print. Disabling NAV isn't the fix for every problem. But be aware, if your having problems and you're running NAV, trying disabling it to see if it's the problem.:)

Open Norton AntiVirus >> click on Options >> E-Mail >> uncheck "scan incoming email" and "scan outgoing email".

In order to scan email, Norton AntiVirus creates a virtual proxy server. If your POP server is pop.server.com, Norton AntiVirus will create a norton.pop.server.com. While this works with some servers, it doesn't work with others, and that's the reason why you were not able to access your email.
