Having problem with the Lexmark 125 All In one printer

First off, I have Windows XP. And here's my problem. I have had nothing but problems with this printer. It's not a hardware problem, it's a technical problem. Sometimes, when I want to print, it will print. But other times it will not print, and I will get the error 'Local Downlevel Problem' or something like that. When I try going on different users in Xp, and printing, that is usually when the problem occurs. Why would this happen? And also, if I'm getting the error, and I restart the computer, and then log on, it starts printing the document when it wouldn't work before.

Whats the problem?

I'm guessing it's an issue with available RAM since the problem happens when you switch users but goes away when you restart. System specs? USB or parallel?

Dump your lexmark and buy a real printer. Get an HP. At least they get their drivers certified by microsoft.

I discourage all my clients from using/buying lexmark for those reasons; poor drivers, and high maintenance costs.

Lexmark printers are on the lower spectrum of quality products. I would try testing the printer out on another machine for a process of elimination. I personally dont have Lexmark but my company carried them a while ago. You might also try to call their tech support line to see what they can do to help you.

I'm with Tripleshot on this one after seeing your basic system config. Other possibilities:

1) XP sucks
2) If this is an OEM system, Dell/Gateway/Compaq/whatever preinstalled crap sucks.

If you really want to hold on to your printer you could always format/reinstall and try Win2K. I had WinXP for a while but I'm putting 2K on as we speak because I got sick of XP.

Problem: It's a Lexmark
Solution: Next time buy HP

I know, I know I'm too helpful ... that's what they all say 🙂
