Hi,
Recently my K8N Neo Platinum died (shipped it yesterday for RMA..freaking $20!) and I'm running on my old athlon XP 2600+ with a Soyo KT400 Dragon Ultra motherboard. My problem is this, sometimes (more like 50-75%), the monitor either wont click in or it will click out when windows is loading, but once i get into windows the monitor never clicks out.

When it does click out when I'm booting, usually turning the pc off, and turning the PSU off fixes it most of the time.

Any ideas???

....anyone?

EDIT: Also, this motherboard has a molex connector right above the agp slot that the manual says it for "AGP Pro" use...wtf is agp pro? I do have it connected.

Sounds like a video issue definitely... I doubt it is the monitor. The culprit is most likely the video card in that it is either not getting enough power or is not hooked up properly... I am going to guess that your card is *not* an AGP pro card, unless you expressly bought it for 3D apps (CAD etc). I would disconnect that AGP pro connector, it might be diverting power to something you don't need and possibly is causing your monitor to "click out" :p on ya. What type of video card & power supply is it? Good luck

I'm running a 9600 pro in it. As soon as I get my K8N Neo back I was planning on buying a BFG6800OC anyway. PSU is a 420w thermaltake w/ 18 amps on the +12v rail.

What is AGP pro anyway?

AGP pro is for workstation graphics machines doing architecture design, graphics rendering and such. The 9600pro is definitely not AGPpro card.

Okay, I unplugged the molex from that, then when I rebooted the monitor didnt click in. Held down the power button to turn it off then turn it back on and I got video. Could the fact that I have my sound card in the PCI slot below the VC have anything to do with it.

Did you try booting after unhooking that molex connector from the AGP Pro hookup on your mobo? List the rest of your specs too, just trying to get an idea of how much juice you are drawing from your psu.

no. your only concern there would be a little less breathing room for your vid card.

I swear, i'll never have a well working pc. Ever since I upgraded to my K8N Neo Platinum I've had nothing but trouble. That motherboard was a b!tch too.

Sure you will. Don't despair. There's nothing you can't fix when it comes to PCs unless your parts are toast. So you're up and running now right?

Yeah it's running now (when the monitor clicks in) . I just hope my MSI board was the dead part, not my a64 3000+...all of my friends are athlon xp users, so I basically had to guess which to send off. I chose my motherboard because i never got the serial number off of my processor, and it is covered in thermal paste.

My last working pc that never gave me any trouble was when i had an Asus board. I miss those days.
