Weird title for a thread :)

Anyway, last night I was working on projects(3d related) and suddenly my monitor starts to ghost and have abnormal colors onscreen(oversaturated colors it looks like). I thought great just my luck....checked if the cables, etc. were plugged in tightly and turned off monitor and such. No luck.

So I decided to borrow my brother's display to see if it was the display or my computer that was causing it. Both displays are having the same problem. So would be that the fault of the videocard? If so, anything I can do before I go on replacing it or any other component?

It's annoyed me because I'm in the middle of a big project due wed. for class and this happens. If anybody can help please reply.

Thanks,

Angel

Well try another video card just to be sure that's the problem, of course. But you'll probably have to RMA the card, not likely you'll be able to narrow down what may have failed on it.

Stressed out student on a limited budget getting married. :)

Wow, high skill factor you got going for you there hehe.

Anyway, maybe try booting windows into safe mode. This will load the standard VGA driver. At least this will let you know if its a software driver gone bad.

Good Luck, let us know how this works and welcome to AT!

Ok.....rebooted in safe mode and still same problem. I can't use another videocard at the moment because I don't have a spare or funds to do it. It's getting worse though.......as I'm typing this the screen is very faded and horizontal lines are all over the place. Like a really cheap TV.

Any thoughts?

Find a local computer shop, they might have some old used AGP cards to test with that are very cheap. Always good to have a spare around.

Yep, sounds like your video card is bad. I assume that your display is bad during the Bios boot screen also?
This guy has an AGP video card for $12 shipped.
