Having issues with assassin's creed 2 getting stuck. possible network related?

So i sit behind a proxy and a heavy firewall, and it took about 45 minutes to plug everything through so i could play the game. been playing fine since then, no updates to the satellite list yet that would prevent me from playing as far as i know. im at the part where you get the hidden blade from da vinci, and when i go to equip it, the game gets stuck from there. i can still interact with the map, equip or unequip the blade, and go to the pause menu, but the game simply wont progress. im thinking it's a network issue, but wireshark isnt finding anything on my end of the link which would tell me whats going on, and my step dad who administrates the router wont give me the admin pass to fix it myself, or check it until in the evening sometime. anyone else had a similar problem like this? the data from wireshark leads me to believe that it might be an error on the server end, but i have no way of knowing right now without seeing if others have had the same issues.

The game was cracked a short while ago. I'd download it and see if it gets rid of your problem.

i cant, downloading that crack would be blocked on our network as i cant use any torrents

There exists decent websites for getting cracks(I don't like using disks on old games) not through torrents although I'm too lazy to check if it has that and obviously can't link it : p

What do you mean the game doesn't progress? If you mean the cut-scene somehow didn't "end" and you can't control Ezio? I had that once too, on my Xbox. I started the memory again and everything went fine the second time. It wasn't at this particular spot though. I think.

If you can move around, you have to test the blade on dummies, I think - do some fancy assassination moves on them ("kill" from the hay stack, wall-jump-kill and something else). Was some time ago though, so I might be thinking about a different moment.

The problems that AC2 has are unfortunate. It's actually one of Ubisoft's better efforts. Too bad they had to go ruin the PC version like the morons they are.

It doesn't sound like a network issue to me but rather a bug. Try reinstalling first and see if that helps. If that fails, get someone to download the crack for you.

That's where he's stuck - you get the "hidden" dagger and have to go practice on various dummies before you can continue... It's a little vague in that part of the game

yea the problem is that once it shows his hand out, like you're gonna equip it, i go to equip it, and then it doesnt do anything, it just sits there. as i said i can unequip it and equip it again, and i can load everything in the pause menu. i will try reinstalling, and i will update to 10.4 drivers in case that helps, though i doubt it

Call Ubi's tech support. They sold you the product. In theory they should be interested in you as a future customer. Also in theory they've allocated additional budget and manpower to supporting their DRM roll-out. So call em and see what they think.

You have to wonder what those frenchie Ubisoft suits are smoking. If this kind of bs is the future of pc games then i'll be buying a lot fewer games directly from the publishers then. I'll buy everything second hand and not care where they got it. I'd rather give my money to EA now instead of Ubisoft and that's saying a lot.

I'm sorry but I still don't understand what you mean by stuck.

1. Walk to the dummy
2. Select the hidden blade (pull up the round menu and select the blade)
3. Select the dummy, walk to its back and click the proper action button - will be labelled as Assassination. I think it's in the alternate moves - was some time since I played it so can't remember the right combination.

There are 3 types of things you probably need to do:

1. Hide in the hay stack, select the dummy and press the right action button to kill it and hide the "body" inside the stack.
2. Select another dummy, run towards the wall next to it, bounce off it and click the right action button for this type of Assassination
3. Climb the balcony, select the dummy on the balcony and use the right action combination buttons to pull him off the balcony

Took me a moment to figure this out as it wasn't really directly explained (or I skipped the dialog or something). You can't progress unless you do the necessary special kills on dummies.

If that's not what you mean, please explain in more detail.

Great that you were able to progress further Assassin's Creed 2 is an awesome game
