Hey Guys,

I'm having an issue trying to get my Nexus phone to mirror onto my Samsung Smart TV and to my Android powered projector. I've followed the instructions on techtter (http://techtter.blogspot.com/2014/03/how-to-screen-cast-nexus-5-to-samsung.html) and I still am not getting any luck. May it be that my phone is broken? lol. The phone is unrooted and retains stock configuration so I don't know what is going on. On the Samsung TV, I am unable to get my phone to recognize at all. I am use the same wifi network on both applications. However on my Android projector, an AAXA LED Android, it seems to recognize but it won't sync and mirror. Could there be some setting on my phone that I am using that may interfere with the connection to broadcast? I turned off bluetooth thinking that it may be a cause for the problem. I really want to get my TV to work if it comes down to it however...It's been proven to work but my luck hasn't been so great so far. I have a Samsung UN65HU9000. Usually I'm pretty good with these things but this is frustrating the heck out of me. I have a video for the projector that I am having mirroring issues with as well. It has a built in program to receive signal for mirroring devices but it's not working! I want to say it's my phone not working right but I have no idea at this point. I made a video documenting my problem here to make it easier to understand. I appreciate all the help! I hope you guys have experienced this issue and can help me out through this. Thanks!

I will be the one to say it, wireless mirroring on Android (outside of the Chromecast and maybe HTC with their official dongle) outright sucks. The whole thing Apple gets with Airplay Mirroring, we don't get anything near that nice. Miracast is a joke. Maybe through the Chromecast Google will clean this all up and make it not suck, but for the non-Chromecast hardware out there today I think its worse than useless.

So its not you, its the tech. The answer is to break down and get a MHL cable or a Chromecast.

Hmm, I was assuming that was the case. I'm wondering why Android did that to us users. Looks like I'll be purchasing the Chromecast for my TV. I guess that's the thing that frustrates me...providing gimmicks for us to buy and not really improving upon it for the users to be able to actually use! I have an MHL cable lying around that I can use but I want true wireless. For the projector I guess I'll just download the apps and try running it off the projector. There seems to be no compatibility issue with the firmware used on the projector so that's a good sign. Looks like the USB port on the projector allows for mouse connection so navigation should be easier. That was the main reason why I wanted to mirror my phone over to the projector - so I can navigate easier through apps and pages. Thanks for the help! Are there any other avenues that I can explore that may improve usage?

Agreed. Google has this thing with Android that unless they are focused on that part for some reason (such as Project Butter) whatever implementation they put out basically sucks and can be done better by a third party hacker. They are too desperate to say they support something without hammering out the details.

With that said, Google does seem to be focused on making the Chromecast THE Android sharing device:

http://www.smh.com.au/digital-life/...-android-screen-mirroring-20140713-zt68u.html

But even then as the above writeup states the universal mirroring doesn't work as well as per-app support. Still, that is as close to a "solution" as we will get from them.

Samsung devices mirror perfectly to Samsung TVs/Blu-Rays... It's when you go cross manufacturer that there is trouble

Noted...Do you know exactly why cross manufacture platforms seem to not work as effectively? Is there something in the firmware that is preventing this?
