I dont have a clue whats wrong with my 11.5gb Maxtor. Sometimes the computer just freezes, and after that sortof thing the bios just says that it is a MA#"%#$&$%/$/!$#%$%&$#%/"#$%&/"#$&"#$&"#&#"46$=3465234&"#$"#$%#$&.
While usually its supposed to be MAXTOR BLAHBLAH 11.5gb.

Scandisk doesnt say there is anything wrong, no bad sectors or anything, could it be that the motor is allmost dead?

What sucks is that I have two Quantum Fireballs also that are like way old and I´v never had any trouble with them, but the maxtor is about 1-2 years old.

Tried it and nothing, everything seems to work.

Do you think it could be that the drive isnt getting enough power, I did some casemod today and added two 4cm fans on my g400.

Right now I have an Athlon on a MSI6167 750 mobo, with G400, SBlive, ISDN adapter, Intel NIC. Three Hd's, 1 dvdrom. One 8cm fan, One 9cm fan, two 6cm fans on my Alpha heatsink and now also two 4cm fans on my g400.

oh forgot, its a 300w PS AMD approved

I would try to prove your theory by unplugging all case fans and extra drives,CDROM also, and leave the side off with a small fan blowing into it for a few days and see if the problem disappears.
