I am having a strange problem. When I start Quake 3 Arena or Age of Empires 2 my computer screen goes into power save mode. Then when I switch to another program (like Internet Explorer) using Alt-Tab the screen comes back. It seems that the games are still running because I can hear them, I just can't see them. Does anyone have any ideas of how I can solve this problem?

Asus P3V4X MB w/ Bios v1003
Xtasy Geforce3 Ti 200 AGP graphics card on IRQ 4 sharing with APCI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering which the manual says is ok to share. (But if anyone had problems with this I will change it.) w/ Detonator 4 v21.85 driver
P3 600E CPU (not overclocked)
Viewsonic PF790 monitor
384 MB PC133
Enermax 465P-VE(FC)

PCI slot 3 has my Sound Blaster Live X-gamer sound card
PCI slot 5 has my Ethernet card.
ISA has a US Robotics 56K modem.

Thanks all!

No overclocking. In fact I made sure to put my cpu back to stock 600mhz.

Ok, it seems to get even more strange. I pushed the "Power" button on my keyboard in Quake (no screen as mentioned before) and the screen came back on with Quake really small in the bottom left hand corner. I adjusted the size and Quake worked completely fine. I then restarted my computer and now Quake works fine but Age of Empires still gives me a blank screen.

Thanks for all your help.

Found a solution. Thanks antiABIT for the replys. Turns out Microsoft was aware of the problem. Just had to add a "Nostartup" to the end of the "Target" field in the shortcut the game created.
Still doesn't explain why Quake was doing this but since it works now I can't complain.

Thanks again! :)
