I'm having a package shipped to me from California (I'm in WA).

This guy originally stated that he would sell it for $250, I told him I wanted it. Apparently he got more offers and decided that he now wanted $275. It is still a good deal, so I told him fine--I gave him my zip and asked for shipping charges.

It's a 50lb package, and he told me the UPS shipping came out to $50... that seemed high to me so I got the exact dimensions and did calculations myself through fedex.com. The total came out to $24.

I replied to him and told him it was only $24 through Fedex. He replied and said that when he did it on their site it came out to $31. I say fine, $31. He then sends me an email saying, "sorry, I'm not trying to be difficult, I just want to make sure the insurance covers us in case anything happens... just paypal me the $310 and we are good".

$275+$31=$306. I feel like a dick, because its only another $4, but come on buddy...

I told him I would paypal him $306, if he gives me any more trouble, I'm out.

If you want it, just get it at the lowest price you can agree on. But, if possible, let others know that he's a liar.

I plan on it.

I doubt it will do much though, I'm under the impression that he rarely sells stuff.

he's not (necessarily) a con, he just wants more money. I mean who knows, if it IS a 50 pound box, a large enough box for that might be 6 bucks, + assorted packing materials + his time to ship...
