I guess it doesn't matter though because anybody who would buy an unsupported system from an auction site should know enough about computers that they wouldn't need to read through the configurations of those "comparable" systems.

I noticed that too. I wonder if he is artificially inflating his price, by bidding on his own auction. I wouldn't put it past him since he is blatantly selling illegal software.
