havent sold on ebay in a while

Aharami

Lifer
Im trying to sell my home theater system on ebay. I havent listed anything on ebay for a while now. Reading thru the fine print, i see that paypal might hold the payment for 21 days now??
Select at least one approved electronic payment method listed below.

* Learn more about recent changes to the eBay Accepted Payments Policy.

Some payments may be held in your account to ensure smooth transactions. PayPal will release the hold after 21 days without a buyer dispute, claim, chargeback or other action. The hold may be released earlier if either of the following occurs:

* Buyer leaves positive Feedback.
* 3 days after PayPal confirms item delivery.

is this something new?

Also i know the ebay rules have changed a lot recently regarding feedback and whatnot. Are there somethings I need to keep in mind about this auction?

Yes, to protect buyers.

As a seller you can't leave negs/neutrals to buyers. Buyers leaving neutrals to you do not affect your feedback %

what?! you gotta be kidding me. so their feedback system is essentially (more) useless now?

i haven't sold on fleabay in a couple years. i really enjoyed it one time but eBay got greedy with fees and wrecked everything. now it seems like it is mostly power sellers and the like. it really is too bad, there was a golden age in there where it was a lot of fun.

yea, i guess ebay wants to push out the smaller casual sellers. couple negs wont hurt a powerseller at all. but i have 35 feedback spanning 6+ yrs and its all positive. Now buyers can leave me a neg on a whim that will reduce my ratio quite a bit and there wont be a thing I can do about it.

fuck ebay. I'm not gonna list my item there. I'll stick to craigslist and FS/FT

nah. "repost" posts are worse than "+1" posts imho. on a long enough timeline, everything is a repost. here that timeline is incredibly short - about a week, as evidenced by posts such as the timeless classic "good place to eat in NYC?" or the ever-popular "going to Vegas soon. what to do?".

So it would be ok to start a thread to find out where I can buy beef online?

to me, yes. to the mods maybe not. you did just return from a short vaca, maybe you should simmer it down a bit for a while.

edit: there might be a mini-mod on duty, not sure. they're good at these questions.

No. We like this kind of thing.
