I have to say, both were stand-up guys, and paid up. Sinsear was certainly a lot more cordial to me then, by pm, than he ever is now. Meh, that's on him. <shrug>

I've never won anything...but when I was young, my mom won 60 cases of soda pop(make sure all locals understand ) through a local grocery store raffle. It was cool, for like a year, we got all the soda pop we could drink.

I've won several "longest drive" competitions in tournament golf scrambles. Prizes ranged from $25 gift cards to the pro shop, to a new golf club, to crystal wine glasses + wine, to $500 towards membership at a course.

Funny thing is, I do not hit the ball terribly long. At least not relative to some people and definitely not with a tremendous degree of consistency. On average I drive ~275-290 yards.

I once went to Canada when I was 19 or 20 when I wanted to drink. I usually would try to win my drinking money at roulette, which I was pretty consistently good at.

Well one night I decided to take a lot more than I normally did ($200) and have a really awesome night. Well I made it down to like $40 and walked away from the table about to cry and decided to go back figuring what would I do with $40 at that point? I played my favorite number with about $10 and it hit. Won all my lost money back plus my drinking money for the night. Was pretty epic.

The downside is I took my money off the table and it hit again.

Couple small things. I recently won a bag toss game from a raffle at a Ducks Unlimited event. Back in the day when Rockbox was first ported to the iRiver H1xx series, I won a contest for best UI design. I got a case out of it IIRC.

Biggest was probably last year when we went to a golf outing. Prizes were pro shop gift certs and I won one for the longest putt (which had no business winning), most accurate drive, as well as pitty money for being the losing team in the scramble. Ended up with a good chunk which was enough to get a decent golf bag.

My proudest and biggest win ever was in 2000 when I won a BMW Z3 off a slot machine :O . I turned around, sold it and made a fortune off gold bullion and Apple stock.... no wait, that was a dream, instead I invested heavily in technology (sold Apple shares at 24$) and got raped in the ass losing about 20k in my first year when the market absolutely tanked.

I've won probably more than my fair share of stuff, which is odd because I don't enter that many competitions/giveaways. I won 2 Office Depot $100 gift cards a few years ago, one right after another (I registered myself, then my wife). That was so odd that I questioned whether it was some kind of mistake or an "everyone wins" kind of deal. Got both cards at the same time a couple weeks later.
Won a Star Wars Kinect Xbox360 four days after buying one. LOL.
Won a laptop from Alienware once. I'm not a laptop fan, so it went straight to CL.

A friend's father once thought that a painting they were auctioning off for charity at a store near us was one of those "guess the closest to the price and win" type things and bid $450. He over bid the next highest by like $350. They went on about what a generous giver he was. We all LOL'd.
