And what was the result?

Just got upto an indicated 160+mph this afternoon, which was nice. Claimed top speed is 150mph but I cheated and used a hill.

I'm sure this isn't an original thread but I haven't seen one around for a while.

[edit] DOh. That was in an Audi TT 225 Coupe.

my civic hit 145 on the freeway with just intake... that was 5th gear at 7,000rpm... not bad for 160 horsepower
 
On a side note I'm about to build up a Peugeot 205 with the mi16 engine from a 405 in it.

160bhp in a 900kg car. Easily tuneable to 200bhp in a 900kg car.

Top speed ain't gonna be 160mph, maybe 145. But the acceleration will be astonishing for such a small/cheap car.

In my 1999 ZX2: The governer kicks in at 114.

In my Mom's 1998 Maxima: Past the speedo, I estimate 135-140.


In my car: It wasn't too bad. I did it on a new road they built that just goes to the county landfill, so there are rarely any people on it, much less cops.

In my Mom's car: This was perhaps the most dangerous (and dumbest) thing I've ever done. We were racing back from dinner to go to Prom. I was weaving in and out of traffic, and an accident would probably have meant death (or at least a bad injury) for me and my date.

What does the speedo go up to on that, I would have thought it would have been at least 160mph on a Grand Cherokee.

It's a nice thought, but I only drive like an idiot on backroads where the only things that could be injured are myself and possibly a stray cow. I have one road in particular that I open it up on that has three real nice straight aways, but I have to shut it down before I hit the 25MPH turns.
