I did update to the new stock ROM a little while ago. Some things were improved - most notably, it contains a new version of Swype that's MUCH better. However, overall stability seemed a bit worse.

Best of both worlds is a cooked ROM with the good packages from the update...

Well my main issues are some hanging while doing something now and again and the texting bug.

The reception improved for me. It would keep reception better and also pick it up again faster. Data connection is more consistent even when entering/leaving no reception areas. Swype is better.

I haven't noticed anything else major. I never had any stability issues before.

The texting speed hasn't improved for me. My longest thread (now) is only ~70 messages. It takes a couple of seconds to load before my typing will show up.

Before the update, my longest was ~150 messages and that would be slow to load up.

I heard there were tweaks for this, but I haven't tried yet.

By bigget peeve about this phone is the keyboard lag(texting issue I suppose).
I updated to the newer rom only because the lag became unbearable.
The newer rom is better but doesn't completely get rid of the lag.
I haven't really looked for a solution just yet.
I heard if you get some of the cooked roms, the problem is gone.
Any easy way to get rig of the lag ??
Seriously, we're dealing with a 1ghz cpu here, lag should never be an issue.
