The very fact that you sheepishly acknowledge that some drugs are illegal in some countries while not in others, and ask others to vote accordingly in your poll.. really says a lot.

If anything, that just shows the arbitrary absurdity of it all. It doesn't suddenly make it morally right and wrong, lol.

I'm not arguing about the moral acceptability of taking drugs, even if they are illegal. What I'm saying is it's not (imo) morally acceptable to get high then pick up a gun, whether it's common place or not.

I assume there is a chain of command you can climb...? Or some kind of Military Police for people committing crimes?

On a side note, I think you can resign from the UK army...? One of my friends did.

What I've been patiently trying to explain to you is that during war, the 'normal' rules of behavior don't apply, nor should they. The enemy doesn't follow any and only the survivor gets to write the history.

While I'm sure that's the case with some things, I.e. the value of human life is lower during a war. Certain moral absolutes don't change.

The fantasy world you live in doesn't preclude you from getting dead. Not surprisingly, if you haven't been there you don't get it and, once you've been there (and survived) your world view is indelibly changed. I'm just drunk enough to hope you never have to experience the world as it really is.

I suppose if you mean my fantasy world as a world where the military isn't high then yes I'm happy where I am.

I've always been more interested in people who wont compromise their ethics, like Oscar Schindler (I'm not comparing myself to Oscar Schindler) But everyone should do what is right, not what is popular. He knew that.

I'm in the Canadian military and I've done all sorts of drugs:

Weed
Hash
Cocaine
Ecstasy
Mushrooms
Acid
Salvia (legal)
Perks

I'm sure there's more.

Go ahead and report me. I've already admitted my use on the application forms and in every security clearance interviews.

I'd never report someone for having used drugs in their life, the difference is when you are under the influence and people are relying on you.

Depends on the situation. I know people who are better at their jobs when they're under the influence. Say all you want about it, but you have NO idea what is involved when you have such a job to do.

There's a reason I haven't been released due to my...transgressions.

According to what, some law that was put into place a long time ago for completely different reasons?

I assume you're also against steroid use in the military?

According to me. It's my opinion that taking drugs that change your state of mind before picking up a gun, without a medical degree or an informed doctor guiding you is wrong.

Not so sure about steroids, it's something backed up by medical know how, In all honesty I don't know enough about them to make an informed decision
