Have you taken 2 or more tylenol within 24 hours of drinking? Ever? Many times?

It may not be the best thing but as long as you don't make a habit out of it, I'm sure there will be no long term effects.

Sure, why not?

Because it can cause severe liver damage, and possibly even acute liver failure. It's especially bad for alcoholics. There's even evidence that social drinkers are at increased risk of liver damage. If you're interested, you can read this article, although it may be a bit too technical.

If anything, a low-dose aspirin would be better than tylenol.

Of course, I'm not a doctor, yet, so please do your own research if you don't believe me. But do believe me when I say you only have one liver...

Is Bayer (Aspirin) better for you after drinking? I've read conflicting reports..what about Advil?

As far as I know, nothing is worse than tylenol and drinking in terms of killing your liver. You can literally kill yourself if you take enough of both.

Acetaminophen ... no NEVER EVER EVER EVER

I have taken ibuprofen in the same 24 hour period as beer, and that can be bad for the stomache, I'll risk a low chance of ulcers over a high risk of death.

Basically, if you drink at all, don't take Tylenol. It's just too risky IMHO. Of course, some people will think that's overreacting, but I say, when there are other less dangerous choices, why risk it?

sure, plenty of times. i often do a pre-emptive headache medication if i'm drinking heavily. however, it's a lot for your liver to take all at once. but i don't drink heavily or take tylenol frequently. i also use advil instead, if i have it.

Yes, many times over several years in the morning after a night of heavy drinking. Not a good thing to do though.

Yes... Until I realized that Tylenol was the least effective OTC pain killer that you can possibly take, and considering the effects it has on your liver, it's hardly worth using when ibuprofen is so much more effective and less damaging to your internal organs.

I never take Tylenol for anything, HOWEVER, I DO take Excedrin for headaches, which does contain acetominophen. I just don't take it after drinking. Just aspirin if needed.
FWIW, 4 grams (4000 mg) of Tylenol is supposed to be the MAX in a 24 hour period for those with healthy livers under ANY circumstance.
