Have you sold your iPhone?

I did, yesterday. I paid $350 for it new back in september. I sold it unlocked + jail broken for $450. So, I got about 7-8 months of use out of it and made $100. (I didn't sell it with anything more than what came with it)

Why did I sell it? Because the second gen is supposed to come out 1-2/months and when I saw I could get more than what I paid for it back I couldn't pass the new one up.

Yes. The ebay idiots are out in full force. I couldn't help but laugh when someone bought it now for $450. I'm sure I could've gone higher, but any profit at all is nice, and I wanted to get rid of it.

I've considered doing that, and I guess if I wait any longer, the price will plummet.

I wouldn't really call all of them idiots. There are lots of foreigners outside the US and Apple doesn't sell the iphone in their country. Their only resource is to pay insane prices on ebay.

Wow someone buying an iPhone used for $450 is even more stupid than someone buying one new for anything over $150.

I said I'd only ship to the US and Canada, this guy was in the US. So I'd file him under the idiot category.

I took the sim card out and used the pwnage tool to unlock/jailbreak the phone.

At the end of the auction I disclosed that the buyer would have to get a sim card from the at&t store if they wanted to use at&t.

I've considered doing it, but I want to see how well the next gen fares. The first-gen models have been surprisingly good, aside from the poorly-designed headphone jack and the crappy speakerphone. If they do 3G + 32gb, I'll be willing to sell my current iPhone. I've been pretty happy with mine so far.

I probably wouldn't have sold it but given the amount of evidence for GPS as well, it made it kind of hard to resist. Also, considering I'm making money by selling it I really have no regrets. I figure it can only get better...

It's impossible to buy an iPhone from Apple. They stopped selling them today.

So the value of the current iPhone is higher now.

Yeah, if not, you'll be able to buy another EDGE iPhone and still make a buck, so it's a good deal either way

I sold it yesterday, there was no indication yesterday that they were going to stop selling them today.

See, I just thought about selling it, but then I realized that I'd be paying that $20 / month iPhone internet thing for nothing until the 3g version came out.

The 3g iphone will be out sometime between June 15 & July 12. At&t told their people that they could not take vacation during this time, so that they could handle the rush. At first I thought this was some internet bs, but a stop by my local at&t store confirmed it.

The time to sell the old iphone is now. The market will be flooded with them if you wait much longer.

Are you guys all allowing overseas folks to buy it and just requiring that they have a verified address?

If you buy a used iPhone, do you need to sign up for the 2 year contract extension?

after viewing the prices on eBay, i'm stongly considering doing this as well before the new one is released. There is a good chance eBay will be so flooded the prices will just drop off. Also, Apple.com is completely sold out of the current iPhones (comes up as unavailable, not even backordered) so thats hurting supply until a new one comes out.

Luckily with AT&T, I have 3 different backup phones to use before getting the new one. Hrmph, decisions decisions.
