Or most attractive due to the fact it IS secured. What are you securing??? *thinks the hacker* ;)

I'm using WPA+MAC

the article says that 4/5 of ur mentioned methods are worthless... :)

if a hacker is crazy enough to get through my WEp security, he obviously has means to get through the others.

and u think anyone would wanna just come randomly into my nice neighborhood, park their shady van in front of a random house and try to hack wireless to get some internet bandwidth for their illegal actions.

if you dont trust ur neighbors, u need to look for a new place rather than spend money useless on securing ur wireless network with a 100 feet range or whtever

According to that article, most of the posters replying in here fail miserably. Including me.

I didn't bother securing my wireless network because I live out in the middle of nowhere and the nearest house is 500 feet away. If the squirrels and the deer want to surf the web on my dime, they can have at it :)

Pre-shared WPA, no SSID broadcast, WEP filtering. I figure that works for me, if anyone REALLY wants in they can. I am all about sharing my Christian MP3's with them :)

I would say so... MAC Filtering will prevent someone from logging into your network, but your data can be easily 'sniffed' in the air...

Yea, I'm 1/11

I just use WEP, Mac filtering, non-broadcasting. No reason for them to ever come after me.

i live in a very rural area, the houses are hundreds of yards apart.

there are only 4 houses within 1 mile of my house

i use WEP 40/64 bit just to cover my bases

for some reason, i have mucho problems if i try WPA , so i just use WEP, the cows don't know how to use airsnort, yet

WEP (I've considered MAC filtering, but so far (periodic checks on conected systems), so good.

i don't broadcast my SSID and i filter for MAC's, but I turned WEP off because it sucked performance down noticably, even on simple web pages.

there are other networks in my area that are completely unsecured, so i don't worry about it too much.

I use WEP with 256bit encryption. My next door neighbor has a wireless network and it is not secured. We've talked about sharing access though as I can clearly see his AP.

Mine has been open forever, but a couple weeks ago I passworded it.
I don't have any neighbors savvy enough (or close enough) to get on anyways, but I recently shared some stuff on our home network that I'd rather not have deleted and didn't want to have to come here and say how retarded I was when it came up gone.

I use WPA on mine but I think I'd probably be okay without any sort of security at all. I live in an apartment complex and there's not one other visible WLAN here. If I can't see theirs, I'm guess that there aren't any and that no one has a wireless device to use mine. I went ahead and secured it nonetheless.

It's crazy how many unsecure connections there are out there. Mine, and everyone I set up for others are locked up tight.
