Have you noticed most idiot drivers drive minivans?

I am not saying that all minivan drivers are idiots...just a majority of them are.

Most moronic drivers think something big on the road is a lot safer than a normal midsized car. Also, if you have 4 kids, you have to look at a van/minivan in order to haul the rugrats. The problem is that most people have no common sense. You don't feed your kid in the passenger seat while you drive at the same time. However, it happens and when accidents are a result, the person who was a fault denies it. "Gee, I was only wiping my baby's face off with a rag when it happened. The other car needs to not hit its brakes."

Really? I drive a minivan (Aerostar cargo). I happen to be 6'5", 205lbs and the only people that might think I'm a moron are liberals who can't handle the truth.

when I get to drive my dads 2000 Max i tend to drive a bit aggressively so to speak.. it's funny when you pull up at a light and you know you can take everyone around you including the 2 crappy rice rocket hondas to the side and rear of you. 😀

I also drive a minivan too sometimes... for work though, and i drive it like mad.. since it's the company work van and all.. hey i gotta get the job done quickly!! lol...

I know in my neck of the woods, the bad drivers tend towards the SUVs. I think they migrated from the big old Cadillac boats of old.

I commute 20 miles each way from the exurbs to a mid-size city downtown. 99% of the time I drive a small foreign sedan but on occassion I drive my wife's minivan. Over the years, and driving two completely different minivans, it is my firm conclusion that other drivers are far ruder cut off minivans far more than other cars.

Personally, I think a minivan is one of the best choices to make for most drivers. More room, far less cost than SUVs, and better gas mileage. But people rarely buy cars based on common sense.

That wasn't exactly the thesis statement of my post. I was merely mentioning the fact that I hadn't had an accident to give whatever else I had to say some credibility. Did you bother reading the rest of my post? Do you not agree that younger drivers have better reflexes and understand driving rules better than older drivers?

BTW, I don't mean "younger" as in a 16-year-old. I'm referring to drivers in their 20s and 30s.

Better reflexes are frequently very poor compensation for lack of experience behind the wheel. You might avoid an accident by reacting at the last second, where I wouldn't even come close because I'd see it coming.

Experience only counts for so much. Many people are just naturally "bad" drivers. Driving is as much a "skill" as anything else. I can parallel part on a dime, whereas I've seen many older people have to back up and drive forward several times to get it right. Now, of course they've parallel parked 400x more than me, because they've been driving for 20 years longer, but I am just plain better at it. If you're referring to awareness (predicting when an accident may occur), this again can be related to age, as older people are generally less alert, have worse vision, and didn't grow up with traffic as bad as it is today.

I wouldn't consider the Aerostar (or the Chevy Astro/Safari either for that matter) to be a minivan. If I recall correctly, those vans are rear-drive and have legitimate cargo variants, a true "minivan" seems to have very little utilitarian aside from hauling people. I wouldn't want to try towing over two tons through NH mountains with a Pontiac TranSport or with a Windstar. 😉 More germain to the thread, you are completely correct to say that stupidity transcends vehicle type (and, unfortunately, occasionally affects the author of this post...). The worst drivers are distracted drivers, regardless of what they are driving.

Hey....I'm insulted! But it's not like I drive a minivan by choice (consequence of being a poor college student and driving parents' car).

Anyway, if my parents are driving, yes, most idiot drivers DO drive minivans.
