Trailer

RoE Wiki

Gainax studio is remaking the whole Evangelion series through a set of 4 movies. It's a full budgeted theatrical release with updated graphics. It's speculated that the Rebuild will show an alternate ending / a spin-off, parallel events.

1.0 currently out in the Japanese theaters right now (release date 9/1/07), the second one's ETA is 2008 with remaining others to follow. Being a snobby selective anime snob who only appreciates Eva, Cowboy Bebop & Samurai Chanploo, I can't wait to see it! :D

I preferred RahXephon, though it's sacrelige to say so.

Anime studios are getting to be as bad as Hollywood with the endless remakes of Tenchi and all the TV and movie remakes of OVAs that were fine as-is.

FLCL FTW

Ok, OP thanks for that link. FMTTM by Utada has friggen kick ass bass on my system :)

Its got a nice bass line that dips into the 28hz range (Low A which is a whole step below the standard tuning of a 5-string bass).

So... 3rd alternate ending's a charm? :p

Shinji was always just a little too (ok, way, way too) emo for me. Also, plenty of good recent anime out there, imo.

That' beyond "snobby". Or maybe you just haven't seen much anime?

Anyway, this is the first I've heard of the remake, and it sounds awesome! Looking forward to it!

Absolutely. I was a much bigger fan of RahXephon.

Wow. I had this topic like, in August when the movie was just announced. I only got 10 replies :(

Anyway, my Friend over in Japan saw the first move "You are (not) alone". Its the same thing as the original series. Albeit with Sexy animation and changed music. I'm not trying to be detrimental to the movie, but the movie is the original series with modern animation. They use 95% the same scenes and angles. But the animation is so damn good that it doesn't really matter,

They have HOLY CRAP extended Eva Berserk Fight Scenes, and the New Operation Yashima is Orgasmic.

And in Japanese Magazines, a new Character is more or less confirmed in an official promo. Its suspected that she is from one of the video games, but we don't know, cause we only get to see right up to the torso.

The ending will finally be good. Gainax promised us this much.

Also, the movie plays a lot of homage to the original series, like in some scenes the Moon has the blood stain when Lilith does her..thing in EOE. And some scenes has red/orange ocean.

Also, there are alot of differences.

When Ramiel is killed, it turns to liquid, so no S2 engine, interestingly enough.
Instead of being an emo sonofabitch, Shinji is more shy then anything. but there are scenes that make him seem more..suicidal then in the original.
Gendou is just badass. He has even a greater aura of malice.
Misato is more Motherly.

And others.

I'm standing by for the full sub version. Japan is a stickler about pirated copies.

Oh yeah, there is already a trailer for the second movie

I recently created a thread asking for a high-quality anime. The anime fans of this forum gave me slew of suggestions while poking fun at me. ;)

So I took the words and downloaded a few of what you all recommended:

What I got was-
*Some stupid ass anime that has scifi experiment girls with invisible arms that kills people. Absolutely horrid storyline and mindless gore.

*Another anime with some goth female protagonist. You know that girl who wears eye shadows at all time. The story seemed to be too invovled with itself, citing random greek mythologies and etc. It just didn't have the pull

Are you freakin' kidding me? None of the today's anime in the past 3-4 years have been anything ground breaking or genre setting as Cowboy Bebop or Eva.

Okay... So you didn't Like Elfen Lied. Ehh, doesn't matter. Manga is superior, but the Anime was cool.

I can't figure out what the second anime is.

And if you want Anime that has more or less broken ground in the genere, Watch Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu. Biggest cult following ever.

And if you just want to Watch something Cool, watch Tengen Toppa Gurenn Lagann

You must have missed the greatness/randomness that was Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi (skip ep 1 as it is a fake shit ep), Azumanga Daioh, Love Hina, Outlaw Star...

Hmm... you should avoid Code Geass at all costs.

Oh comon, the first half was great. now the second half, thats a different story.

Anyway, who doesn't like watching C.C. get emotionally wrecked when the guy drops the 11 meter long pizza?

As far as pull goes, Grave of the Fireflies ;)

But yeah .. Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (watch from episode 2 imo), Paprika (movie), Full Metal Alchemist if you want a longer storyline, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex & 2nd Gig, Full Metal Panic for good animations, comedy, mechs, and some not-overblown fanservice (just a fun series in general imo).

Oh anime MOVIES are a totally different story. Because of their high budget theatrical nature, most are very good compared to the crappy TV series of recent years.

I just saw The Who Leapt Through Time. I love it. Very nostalgic HS feel to it.... Ghost in the Shell, anything Studio Gibli, etc...

I just gotta find a nice series to get hooked to that not so freakin' childish, lame, cliche, tried-and-true, boring and so on.

The last okay one I saw was Full Metal Alchemist.

The last 'pretty good' one was Samurai Chanploo.

The last AWESOME & unmatched one was Cowboy Bebop & Eva.

I'm a casual anime fan who just wants to watch the cream of the crop. I tried Bleach & Naruto... per my 17 yr old bro's recommendation...way too HS for me. If there's another anime that surfaces rivals above, please PM me.
