Have you had experience with USPS online tracking?

I had bought an item off someone(not from the FS/FT forum) two weeks ago, and received notification by Paypal that they had arranged shipping with USPS and created a shipping label. The guy tells me he ships the item on the 26th, and gives me the tracking number. When I enter my tracking number on the USPS website, it tells me that its current status is:

The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper or shipping partner on November 26, 2004 to expect your package for mailing. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later

Are they just really really slow to update due to maybe it being the holiday season, or do you think the shipper lied to me and has not shipped it out yet? It was supposed to be shipped via priority mail, and the guy only lives 3 hours away from me. I didn't think that 5 days later I'd still have no shipping info on my tracking number, but I've never used USPS tracking before. What do you guys think?

🙁

So the guy probably did send out my item, and it's just been slowed due to the holiday season?

last time i used it, they never showed the item. Then after it was delivered it sudennly showed up.
I don't recall this being during the holiday season either. I think they just don't maintain the tracking process.

Thanks guys, I feel better now knowing that my package is probably going to arrive today or tomorrow 🙂

Ive purchased 2 processors and two heatsinks from separate sites and ALL of them have the same thing posted on USPS for several days now.

Electronically generated shipping labels may not usually get scanned at drop-off, unless specifcally asked for it.

One can generate a shipping label and not use it.

The DC labels will get scanned around the delivery point.

If it was priority mail and you have not gotten it within 5 days, let the shipper know it.

Allow them to have 2-3 days to respond to you.

If nothing positive comes about, recind payment.

One thing you can do is setup auto notification of changes from the USPS site. Just got confirmation that my processors are at home wating for me. Never did show they had been shipped, just delivered.

It doesn't really track..pretty much confirms the shipment only.
