I had appendicitis over Christmas break, and it was the worse experience of my life. I went to bed around 3 A.M. after playing some DOTA with friends. At 5 A.M. I woke up with a pain in my stomach. I thought it was bad indigestion and tried to go back to sleep. Couple hours later I begged my mom to take me to the doctor, and my doctor worked in an appointment around 11 A.M. and then 9 A.M.
So I went to the doctor and he said it sounds like appendicitis, but since the onset was so fast that he didn't think it was. He told us we should go to the ER and called ahead for us. After crying and throwing up for the longest car ride of my life, which was really only 15 mins, we finally get to the ER. After even more crying and throwing up, it's finally my turn to be called.
I got an MRI, x-rayed, and maybe some other tests that I can't remember. The main thing I remember is meeting a girl that was born in the same hospitable and on the same day as me while waiting for the MRI.
After all the tests were ran, they hooked up an IV and gave me some morphine. It was the best feeling of my life because almost all the pain disappeared after a few seconds. I didn't have any other side effects with the medicine. Until then to 5:00 P.M., I was begging for morphine every hour to relieve the pain. Around 5:00 I had the surgery and stayed at the hospitable till the next afternoon.
After the surgery the only pain was from moving around my abs. It was hard to get out of bed and walk around. I probably shouldn't of stayed in bed and watched comedies. I couldn't do anything major with my lower body for a month.
Overall, it sucks that I had it, but I'd rather have it now than when I'm actually in school or older in my life. Also, after experiencing that, I feel like I could handle a lot more pain.
Anyone else have appendicitis and did it hurt that much?
