Have you guys ever asked a professor for a passing grade?

so lets say you are taking a class that is not required to graduate, and is not important to your job......but despite all that, your degree program still require you get a passing grade for any class you pick.

You are doing terrible in the class, and final exams is coming up. If you do good on final, you pass, if you dont, you fail....you study hard, but still have doubts about it.

Im sure lots of you guys have been in this situation. have you guys went to meet the prof and ask him to give you a C, or tell him to help you out a bit after explaining the situation? How do you do it? How do you say it nicely in words?

I might need to consider doing that soon....🙁

i'm a senior, and if I dont pass, this will delay me....

No. I worked my ass off and received the passing grade. I went from a D and hell maybe an F in Java to an A. How? By working my ass off.

No, but when I was taking Algebra classes in College, I was really struggling and I went to see the professor one day to talk to him about it...
I was a sinlge mom, paying all the bills and paying my tuition... was going to class early in the morning, working all day, and taking classes in the evening... and I just couldnt get the whole Algebra thing... I am teh suck at math anyway....

Anyway... he was telling me that he saw how hard I was trying that I wanted to pass, so he was gonna take showing up and working hard as part of my grade... he understood that I was like 35yrs old, had a full plate and needed to pass to take other puter courses.

I did not ask him to pass me, or hint at anything at all... I just went in to talk to him and explain that I was struggling and he said he would pass me and he did.

Cannot say I've had to do that. BTW, stop thinking about it right now and get back to studying. I should be studying too but I'm not.

This probably works better for women.

Student: I really need to pass this class, can you please help?
Prof: If you do one thing for me.
Student: What's that?
Prof: Study.

i have had women tell me that male prof's passed them when requested.

I have never had such luck.

Now back to studying.. for this freaking lab final.. no idea what she is going to ask.

No, but I've gone from a 37% on a midterm to an 85% on a final exam because I realized how bad I was doing and really started studying hard.

You might be right, but I like to thing that if a 35yr old guy with a family to support while paying his college and working his azz off went to him with the same problem, he would have passed him too.

🙂

its kind of wrong to ask the professor for a grade someone doesn't deserve...kind of like giving a job to a person that is unqualified...just study for that final
