That's it, the falling through the cracks part. Don't know about the bolded, and frankly I really don't care, as long as they are vetted safe and effective.
I don't know if that's what they wanted me to do, since they just dump you out at appointments, but every time I selected office visit, I get an immediate "appointment can't be made" message. So after a couple cycling's of that, I selected phone visit. After answering about 15 questions that had absolutely nothing to do with getting a COVID-19 vaccine I have an appointment for Friday afternoon so I can't talk to a human being, and get on somebodies list.

Mass Gov Baker just announced they're accelerating vaccines for healthcare workers making all worker types eligible now. As a non-Covid patient facing worker I was going to have to wait till end of Feb-beginning of March but now I just signed up to get my first shot next Tuesday :). According to the sign up sheet I'll be getting the Moderna vaccine.

My county finally put their wait list signup online. 10,000 people signed up during the first hour.

Info released this week is the county is getting only about 1,000 doses a week. Hopefully with an adult now in the White House this will improve quickly.

I am now dose #1 + 10 days, and still no appointment for dose #2. Phone calls, yea that's pissing into a hurricane. Emailed everyone whose address I could find with the health department. One response (at least he responded) said they would be making calls "close to" you next appointment. Now what the fuck is "close to"? A week, a day, an hour? guess I'll figure that out when I get a call. Fortunately the location for the drive-by is only 10 minutes away.

Another person responded with a bit more info saying they have already started making calls the day before. Well I had my first dose on the first day at 9:45 AM, so I can't be that far down the list... yet no call yet.

Communicating two other people that got their first dose the same day, and neither of them have been called either.... or someone at the health dept is lying.

VA sent me an email today cancelling all except already established appointments because they just don't have enough stock. Trump lied his a$$ off about vaccine levels and Biden's team has discovered the truth. I suppose this is why they didn't want a meeting with them before the inauguration.

Wait... you mean he even allowed the healthcare system specifically for "suckers and losers" to get any vaccine in the first place?

At one point after I retired, but before I was old enough for Medicare, the plan I retired with got outrageously expensive, and I was looking to get into the VA system. Fortunately I was able to be included on the wife plan as she was still working till I reached Medicare age.

The VA here is typically rated one of the better VA hospitals, and yet it is barely mediocre at best.

I live in Jax and our facilities are getting better with new ones slowly being added to the area. Our care is light years ahead of what it was just 10 years ago so I'm happy with the direction its been going.

Yet probably still decades behind the rest of the medical community.

Improvement may have been the only direction open for them, but I'm glad it's working out for you.

Actually doing really well. My arm is no where near as sore as the first. Maybe slightly more tired but i am also recovering from surgery. So far, this shot was way easier than the first.

Good to hear.

My first dose was really a non-event. Injection site soreness gone in 36 hours or less. This seasons flu shot I got in October I had a sore arm for 3 days.

First dose recieved 10 minutes ago, all is well.

I cannot compare my experience getting the vaccine to others though as mine is coming through the Pfizer phase 3 trial and not the general public distribution system.

For the second dose, I definitely recommend taking the following day off. The arm pain was worse than the first dose or any flu shot I've received. I had fairly significant body aches, fatigue, and a mild headache that made me feel really run-down. I was about 90% back to normal after about 48 hours.

Ibuprofen helped to cut the edge, if I had to do it again, I would have taken 400 mg before going to bed on the day of receiving the shot.

Crap, so you're not sure if it's placebo then?

My mom got her first shot of Pfizer about 24 hours ago. Yesterday no reaction, but today she said she has a headache that makes her not want to really do anything but lie in bed and watch TV. Not a splitting headache or anything, but enough to where she is kind of knocked down. Said no chills or body aches or anything like that though.

Currently there are three places locally administering the vaccine. The local health department where you have to make an appointment by phone if you're willing to hold for a half hour or longer. Publix has a sign up option on their website but is completely booked. The local hospital also has a web sign up page. I have now filled out the form twice but have not received a reply. I live a good distance from town, and my cell phone reception keeps me from being able to make and receive phone calls at my house. The form includes my email address and phone number but no where to add a note that I am unable to receive calls. Having to make an appointment is killing the effort to get everyone vaccinated. I'd rather just show up and get in line.
