I’m on the wait list for both Dallas and Tarrant Counties.

My healthcare provider Baylor Scott and White has automatically put me on their 1B list as well.

We will see who schedules me first.

Just got Moderna dose 1 this morning at work, I'm a teacher who has been face to face (masked) with students all school year. Lets see how it goes.

Texas put teachers under the 1C group. Fortunately I qualify under 1B. Unfortunately Texas is a shit show. I know people that have had both shots and they aren’t in 1A, B, or even C. It’s like once the vaccines are distributed it becomes are free for all based on what organization they were distributed to.

1A was supposed to be front line healthcare workers only but most hospitals have vaccinated all of their employees, some even expanded that to the adult family members of their employees.

Edit: My wife just texted me her district has scheduled her to be vaccinated tomorrow. Her district has worked with Dallas County to vaccinate their staff. My district also in Dallas county has done nothing.

It's been pretty chaotic here, kind of first come first serve in any category. We are actually the first district (single charter school) to get vaccinated in the area. Our admin signed up this week and we got in immediately. My fiancée works in daycare and is scheduled by the health dept for next Thursday.

I'm phase 1b, got an email yeterday from my HMO (Kaiser Permanente, Northern CA), with phone number and URL to get info on the vaccination scheduling. I tucked them away in my data. Very shortly thereafter I hear that people over 65 are eligible (I wasn't before), so tonight I hit the URL and it says call the number to make an appointment. Oh, great! So I just call the number and go through all the rigamarole, the automatic menu, enter my medical record number, blah blah and hit 0 as instructed to get "staff." Then I'm told that the current wait time is "10 hours." LOL, I hang up!

My wife got round 2 today of Pfizer at 8:00am today. She was in bed at 8:30 tonight. Not saying don't get the vaccine. Just saying that it can whoop you.

Schedule round 2 at the end of a work week or not when you plan to do physical activity.

Web designers for Kaiser should be shot. Took about 10 times to get through the 4 answers I needed to answer. You get to the end and says yep you should get a shot. No Fn kidding! Then you go to appointments and they aren't working, can't be done. So I go through the process one more freaking time, and there's this little statement at the "you've almost reached the end" highlight. We will be contacting you. Hey numb nut web designer, don't be Fn vague! Say, great you are in the system now, and will be contacting you. Of course you could have alleviated my anguish by not saying my appointment questionnaire was in progress when I go back into it. Oyeve!

I'm eligible by my HMO, they don't have the supply. They're supposed to inform me when they have it and will instruct me how to make an appointment. I'm checking my email regularly...

Kaiser's not handled it well. My next door neighbor got his appt with them but he's not officially eligible now, i.e. they should never have given him an appt. They have no doubt gotten tons of hits online, their phones are ringing. You get automatic messages. ~3 days ago they finally got a sensible message when you call, saying who's eligible and if you are THEY WILL CONTACT YOU WHEN THEY HAVE SUPPLY.

Best bet if you want to ask questions is to call the advice nurse, punch through the message and ask. I did that a few days ago.

Well, I got an email to look at my messages on their site. The message says schedule your appointment, with a link. Same stupid link that has the same standard selections. I tried a couple of them, and it comes back and says appointment not possible. Then try again and Retry, Retry. Maybe I will try later or show up in their lobby without a mask on!

I found their email pretty useless. You get a link to a page that's confusing and got me nowhere. They had a phone number there, also no help.

Call the Advice Nurse. You will hear a bit about if you are having an emergency call 911, blah blah then I'm getting a ~15 sec. recorded message. Until 3 days ago that message was we don't have supply, "call back tomorrow." About 3 days ago they changed that message to something like "we are vaccinating frontline medical workers and members over 75 years old. If you qualify, we will contact you directly with instructions on how to make an appointment when we have vaccine supply."

I heard that every time I called, looked for an email, then one time I didn't hang up after calling the Advice Nurse and then, of course, got in line to talk to said nurse, got a woman and had a 5-10 minute conversation and asked my list of questions. Now, I figure, there's nothing to do but wait for that direct contact from them. I AM ELIGIBLE.

It's just a complete joke at this point.

Patience. Personally, I'm OK, not in a giant hurry. Just hope I don't fall through the cracks.

Now, there is one thing that I am concerned about. One of my questions (which I figured I knew the answer to, but I asked anyway) was which vaccine would I get. She said whatever they have, they're getting P and M. Now, my concern ATM is that Johnson and Johnson is about to be approved and will be added to supply very quickly, I figure. I kind of think I remember hearing it's not as effective, maybe 75%. I want P or M, which are 95% effective. PERIOD. I wonder if I can refuse if they offer me J&J and get P or M later!

That's it, the falling through the cracks part. Don't know about the bolded, and frankly I really don't care, as long as they are vetted safe and effective.

For me, I'm high risk, so % effectiveness is my major concern, not the advantage of a one dose vaccine. And how soon takes a back seat to how effective at preventing illness.

Texas is getting even more f’d up.

My county doesn’t have a large vaccination site so all of the county residents were told to signup in Dallas County.

Yesterday Dallas County decided to prioritize people on certain zip codes only in south Dallas county. They essentially said they will only be vaccinating people from these zip codes for the next several weeks.

Texas came back and is stripping a large part of their vaccine allocations starting next week.

It’s not complicated. It should be first served based on 1b guidelines. Go in order of the waitlist stop this extra nonesense.

I think you might want to check what's out there on the J&J effectiveness numbers. I think you'll feel better.

Ideally dose 2 of Pfizer should be administered 21 days after dose one. I schedule a lot of appointments based on my convenience, but not this appointment. Turned down a 7 am dentist appoint earlier this week for one many weeks later.

My county is still fucked up. Got dose #1 of Pfizer 9 days ago. I still don't have a fucking appointment for dose #2, due on 2/1. What the health department says to the media is they "will call people who have received their first dose, to schedule #2" Yea, fucking when? Don't dare use the fucking phone in case that is when they call.

For those still trying to get dose #1, they said "we are opening a 'wait list'" yea, another fucking WHEN.

Wife who is not 75 didn't qualify when I got my appointment. Today she got on the phone, and after several hours got appointments in a neighboring county, and has both appointments for both doses. First one this coming Sunday.

Took the dog to the vet for his rabies and annual checkup. Talking to the vet, she said several of the staff have gone to a neighboring state and got their first dose.

I hope now that we have an adult in the White House that we can get some federal help to organize this mess.
That's a huge piece of the puzzle, but they are also going to have to weed out the incompetents that Trump has installed, even in the CDC.

I tried for around 10 minutes, will give it another go. All I saw was from an initial trial, not a large phase 3 trial.

I haven't seen a dentist since late 2019. My many decades dentist retired end of 2019, just before the pandemic, lucky stiff. I'm sure he felt lucky. He sent his patients' records to a dentist he knows who lives near him and practices in my town. I don't want to go into a dentist's office until after I'm vaccinated! I figure to go to a different dentist. I'll have to go in person to get my dental records. I figure there's a good chance I'll have immunity in the couple months or so... depending on vaccine supplies, of course. Meantime, I'm sticking to my very safe protocols. I really don't give a damn. You can't lure me into a restaurant with promise of a good meal! Not that they have indoor dining here, anyway. I haven't even gotten takeout since 2019.
