Back in high school I got thirty-odd awards in math, physics, chemistry, and stuff like that. Nothing big. A few state championships and I did make it to the international science fair, so when you added it all up, it actually worked out to be a decent amount of money.

I don't know if any of those can hope to compare to my part in the 2004 ATOT Ownage award, though. :)

Won or earned?

How do you win an award? Like you were competing against other people to win it? I've won science fairs, choir awards, etc.

I've earned awards like Eagle Scout, my AAS degree, my BS degree, my MS degree, Vigil Honor, dean's list, etc.

If you scroll down on that page you will find Marcos Ortega, that's me. I won a full expense paid trip to Miami for one week in early January (fantastic weather) as well as the level 1 award ($3,000 cash) and a nomination for Presidential Scholar in the Arts. Because I was a level 1 award winner, I will also have a shot at winning an additional $7,000 in May.

I've also won many 'keys' in the Scholastic Art and Writing competition. I've won 2 gold keys and 2 silver keys for individual pieces. I will find out the fate of my two portfolios submitted later this year. I could win $10,000 from them as well.

At 18, I'm gonna have to say so far so good!

Well, I was an All-State Basketball Player in High School. I suppose since only 20 are chosen out of the whole state that is a good accomplishment.

A bunch of journalism awards (apparently I'm in a textbook in Germany? (got an email from a student in Germany who liked my photo)) and the National Dean's List.

I received roughly $40,000 in scholarships (somewhere around there, maybe $45k, I don't remember anymore) at the end of my high school career for college. My GPA isn't as stellar anymore, though my extracurricular achievements and contacts are significantly better towards the end of my college career - I've become much more outgoing and I've developed my people skills throughout my college years to where I hope - *hope* - they offset the 3.4 GPA.

And my Eagle Scout.

Wow. Good job! Really.

I wasn't paying attention and missed the deadline for the Westinghouse. I won a few Florida state science fair competitions and a couple of international science fair prizes.

There were lots of scholarships coming out of high school.

I won a best (engineering research) paper award at a big international conference in the spring. I thought that was pretty cool, and people at my new job seem to know that I won the award.

I won this major award yesterday.
Aside from that, I won a couple hundred bucks on a humane society calendar drawing thing once.
I won a few hundred bucks on a football pool, and 33 bucks on a lottery ticket.
I won a legal decision against bad renters a few weeks ago and won another decision today for $1042.
Last, but not least, I won a plaque, watch and paper sundries for the "Frank DeLuca Award". It was for being the highest scoring apprentice in my graduating class.
That was cool, but I'd trade it all for the leg lamp, a hand job and a bowl of beans.

An 'award' would no be a medal or trophy as I have won a bunch of them.

I won an award for 'Sports Personality of The Year' in my school :D. I was rather chuffed about that as only one person in the year gets it.

I also won a scolarship that I didn't know I was entered in for as it was a 'secret' thing and only done on merit without the students in the county knowing about it. They figured if they knew they would work harder or do something that was not 'usual' for them. I got lucky I won :D £3k ~ $5.4k better off in 3yrs :D
