Just fyi, 99.99% of all soap uses the same active ingredient, namely sodium laureth sulfate (SLS). SLS is a "chelating" agent that has both hydrophobic and hydrophilic ends. The hydrophobic ends bind to dirt, oil, etc... to form a complex, and the hydrophilic ends make the complex sufficiently soluble/miscible in water so as to be able to be washed away. ONe of the things I always thought was interesting is that one of the main sources of SMS is coal tar.
In other words, most soaps nowadays are identical, except for the additives used (emollients etc.) and the relative concentration of ingredients.
Oh, and yes I have washed myself with dish soap. Moreover, anyone who has done dishes by hand has done the same.
