I've done it for tournaments I was in and yes it helps immensely. Sometimes you don't realize what your body is doing while your competing in a sport. You sometimes need to relearn specifics movements to make yourself more efficient and thus perform better.

i feel ya man. i wanted to do that too, but i think ppl would think i am some kind of narcissist. also, if i knew i was being videotaped, i'd prolly get nervous and brick all my shots, or just try to be a super jock.

yeah, figuring out where/when to videotape is the key. i'd like to do it while playing actual games, but that might be kinda weird.

I had someone tape me at a kickboxing tournament once but they never did give me the damn tape. Referee stopped the fight in the 1st round, my opponent was dazed from a right hook, that would have been sweet to watch.

I never videotape myself. I was videotaped by others when playing sports.

In high school, there were three separate video recorders. I ended up getting a video of my basketball moves and I thought it was awesome.

I did some time lapse recording with a webcam for 3 weeks during a drive from Toronto to Vancouver and back.

Well on the last day I really had to go badly, so I stopped and took a leak in front of the car. I was keeping a watch for people when I remembered the webcam recording, at least it was easy to remove those few seconds.

I would video any time you were doing said action. You will typically practice the way you play and vice versa. You need to up your practice skills to increase your game ability.
