I just did. I feel so stupid. I was talking to this girl and we were talking about this kid who always speaks up in class. And I was like "yeah, he's such a nef."

Then she looked at me funny and I tried to play it off but it killed the conversation.

I feel so sad.

I have used it on other BBS's.
I invented the term, as my sig says.
I challenge everyone as to the etymology of that term.
 
Last years room mate and I usta say w00t all the time ahha it was kinda fun. Nef though... mmm no way.
 
I have used nef in real life, but it was in use to make fun of a nerd. He is anti-everything not Linux (to the sick and disgusting point. I used to think he was just anti-Microsoft, but after I got my iPod, he shriveled up and mumbled apple under his breathe). My seat got switched to near his, so I said to him, "Ha, perfect neffing distance." Nerver used it otherwise.
