Have you ever totaled your garage door ?

Either by forgetting to open the door when pulling in or accidentally hitting the accerelate pedal when parking in the driveway?

Never. But I see garages from time to time that have a big dent right in the area which would match up to a car's bumper. One house in a town next to mine smashed theirs a long time ago and just laid a big piece of plywood in front of the door....it almost would look better just smashed.

Wait... how would this even be possible? Don't you have to look behind you when you back out, or in front of you when you pull in? 😕

Something tells me that you'd see the big white (or whatever color) garage door getting closer and closer....

I have twice almost knocked my car door off while backing my car into the garage by pushing it with my foot with the door open. Figured I'd learn after the first time.

The wife ran the car into the bottom of the garage door several months back. The "shark fin" antenna on the back just barely clipped it and tore up the bottom portion.

C'mon, more story

I was in college when it happened, but I'll try:

It was an Oldsmobile Aurora. He drove home from work, and was having a hard time backing into the garage due to snow and ice. He finally rocketed in backward very quickly, but too close to the side of the garage that he could not get out of his door. Smoke was coming out from under the hood so he got out from the passenger side door, then got out of the garage and stood back as a three-foot column of yellow flame shot up from the hood.

The front of the car, everything forward of the bottom of the windshield, was on the ground and mostly charred. The wrecker that came and picked it up said it was the third Aurora they'd seen do this in the past two weeks. This was in December of 2000.

I once slammed on the gas instead of the brake when this one girl's stupid dog ran out in front of me in her driveway, I quickly realized what I did and moved my foot though, so all I did was scare her and the dog.

I have been driving in and out of garages for over 30 years, and this has never been an issue. I must pay attention to what I'm doing when I'm driving.

I'm always worried that I'll hit my car on the side of the garage door opening as where I live we have very little parking allotted to everyone and one of my neighbors parks his car fairly close to where my garage door is. So literally to get out, I have to turn immediately after leaving my garage door to the left and turn around his car. I just have this feeling that one day I'm going to think I'm fine, start turning and I shall hear the sounds of my poor judgment.

How do you "forget" to open the garage door when pulling in? How do you "accidentally" press the gas pedal instead of the brake?

If you run into your garage, and you're completely sober, you're a retard. If you're drunk and do it....well you're retard too. I see no possible way to legitimizing running into your garage unless your brakes gave out moment you pulled into your driveway.

In the 45 years I have been on this planet I have only seen/known/heard of women driving through the garage door....one girl I knew did it three times. I sure hope you are at least female.
