Have you ever taken a part from a friend's computer?

Have you ever say had a friend, relatively, brother, sister, mother, father, co-worker, boss what ever who bought a new computer and you found out that all they were going to do was e-mail yet it had a better say video card or >Insert part< than your system and so you simply switched out the parts because you thought or knew it would never be fully used to it's potential?

Not really. I traded a friend of mine a Radeon 9600 for his GeForce 4 Ti 4400 (I think) because I needed it for my HTPC and the TV out on the radeon was either dead or not compatible with my TV.

I had a friend who had a slightly better video card than me, but he never really used his at all. I was in the act of "stealing" the part, then I felt really guilty and stopped myself.

Never happened to me. All my PC friends were usually on par or slightly behind me on parts, and I haven't been LANing in a while. And the rigs I built for my folks all used onboard or Geforce 2/4mx's. Because I knew they would never play any kind of games on them.

At work a co-worker and I would get in new models of PC's for someone thats going to do Excel all day so we'd swap out parts with our own work PC's, not that we'd need the increase in performance on our own work PC's but figured we'd get more use out of it than the person it was going to go to.

We'd mostly end up updating our mouse or keyboard with whatever new Dell model would come in.
