Have you ever shipped anything on they company's dime?

I had to ship a product to an engineer today. The company I work for has an internal mail system since most of the facilities we ship to are within a few miles of one another. But this engineer lives around Chicago so it needed to be sent FedEx. So I boxed up what needed sent and took it up to the desk girl. When I got back to my lab there was already a tracking number in my inbox. She didn't ask who it was going to or anything, she just shipped it no questions asked. The thought occured to me that I could ship my eBay stuff from work pretty easily (but I won't since I like my job and am interested in keeping it). Have any of you ever shipped anything from your job on the company's dime? I'm not talking envelopes, I'm talking packages.

Once, but it was just an envelope. Asked the secretary for a stamp & she gave me one.

They wouldn't care anyway.

always... i do both IT and operations (sucks doing 2 people's jobs) so I'm the one who pays the bill anyway.. small company tho

The last place I worked shipped over a thousand packages a day through DHL/Airborne. All Next Day air.

So mine never got noticed 😉

I don't. If I need to mail something because I don't have a stamp, I give the mailroom the 37c. Same with packages. They'll tell me what it costs and I'll give them the money.

I can't expect other people to be honest if I'm not.

When I need something that I can't easily reimburse for (i.e. office supplies which are billed automatically and there's no mechanism for paying out of pocket) I'll balance it out by leaving something off my expense report.

yup, once in awhile. i dont abuse it though. i just go into shipping and print me up a fedex label for whatever.

and yes i have ship items for ebay before.

at my old job I used to do it all the time. people in FS/FT were amazed when I was selling them games for $10 with free overnight shipping 😉

Open an ebay business on the company dime. If you're really good, you could make a warehouse out of company storage space.

I'm there with you brother. When I was selling like mad on Ebay, I sent a lot of stuff out through work. All next day Airborne

how about shipping on company's dime AND charge people for the shipping to add to profit? now that's evil.

I throw stuff in the "personal outgoing mail" box in the mailroom, with my own stamps on it. I also sometimes have stuff delivered to work.
