I saw a couple of people die after a car wreck a few weeks ago. Nothing I could do. Car suddenly appeared heading directly towards us on the interstate and slammed head on into the car in front of me. Pretty fcked up.

WOAH! /Neo

all in the Navy.. all on Desert Sheild/storm cruises.

1: saw an Armoured Vertical hatch fall on a guys head as he tried to secure it (counterweight was broken and no one knew) 1 ton hatch to the head.. boom dead..

2: saw a guy walk right through a turning prop of an E-2C Hawkeye at dusk.. never saw what hit him.. Ginsue aint got nothing on this...

3: saw a guy get sucked into a A-7E Corsair IIs intake...instant blender...

4: several motorcycle deaths...

I saw a guy chase another guy around a car firing at him with a handgun outside my Senior year apartment. My off campus housing was WAYYYY off campus.

When I was about 14, I was walking out of a restaurant and about 15 feet in front of me a lady gets hit by a car going pretty fast.

To this day, I don't know what happened to her because my parents didn't wisked my brother and I away from the scene so we wouldn't see too much.

I've seen thousands of dead people, although it didn't have the same effect as they died hundereds of years ago and were nothing but skeletons.

Les Catacombs!

Just a month or two ago I saw a guy lying face down in the middle of the road during a torrential downpour. Apparently he had tried to cross the road at the wrong time. I'm sure he was dead, because none of the emergency personnel on the scene were helping him in any way - they were busy directing traffic, securing the area, etc.

Twice. First time was when I was probably in 3rd grade. Old lady in a scooter got ran over and dragged underneath an 18 wheeler while crossing the street. I saw the event in it's entirety.

Second time was in San Juan Puerto Rico a few years ago where a Domino's Pizza delivery guy on a scooter got hit by another car and got tossed on to the sidewalk. I only saw the aftermath. He was breathing very heavily but didn't make it. Ambulance arrived too late.

Remind me to never ride a scooter when I'm near you

Twice.

In the 1989 San Francisco earthquake, the building across the street from me collapsed. A woman was pulled from the wreckage and dragged in front of my house. She was very old. She was in her night gown. And she was covered in dust and debris, fine powder and rock was embedded in her skin. I was six years old and quickly got the hell out of there before anything else fell.

About 8 years ago, I was being driven back to my hotel from a dinner party in the Paris suburbs. We had been at the house of a doctor and he was driving. It was about 2am. On the freeway that circles the city, three sport bikes zoom past us going well over 120mph. About four seconds later, just around a corner, they're all spinning on the ground after having colided with a car (which was also spinning). Of course, we stopped, and we had a doctor on site. One guy died in front of us. He was wearing a helmet and protective clothing. My dad made me watch, so as to disuade me from riding a motorcycle. I'm VERY disinclined to ride one now.

I remember that thread.

I've seen several dead people in my life. The most gruesome was a man who had blown his head off with a shotgun. Not much left, heh. The others were from traffic accidents.

I seen a black guy shoot another black guy right in the head about 10 years or so back. The guy ran away, and I said to myself "lol, thats ****** up." I honestly didn't think much of it, didn't even bother to tell the cops what I saw.

EDIT: Quite not "lol", but I remember thinking something along those lines.

Ha...I like how you felt the need to let everyone know that the two people were black.

He must be sexist, too. See how he points out that they're both guys?

I have seen young men kill each others during the Vietnam War and it haunted my dreams for over 20 years (I can?t ever forget the smell of burning flesh/hair). My dad had nightmares till the day he die after he witness the VC executed his villagers.

The most recent that I witness was a junky committed suicide by leaped off a 20 storey building.

A couple weeks ago, I drove right past the immediate aftermath of this.. It had to have happened just happened a couple minutes before I got there - the emergency crews / cops hadn't arrived yet, but they drove right past me en route to the scene, lights and sirens going.

I saw the guy that got hit laying in the far right lane..he looked dead. It looked like the impact partially knocked his pants off. The car that hit him was pulled off to the side up ahead a little ways. I was driving in the middle lane and passed within a few feet of the body. There wasn't much I could do (there were already others stopped) so I kept going.

Another time a couple years back I was on the expressway and got stuck in a traffic jam. As I got closer, I saw EMS and police, along with what used to be a white explorer and a badly damaged semi truck. There was a high speed wreck - the explorer was ripped open like a tin can. There were 3 bodies covered in blankets laying nearby - I could see a foot sticking out of the large one. There were two child / pet sized ones also. 🙁

yes at Howard air force base, Panama. going out to post and rounded a corner and thre was a headon between two panamian nationals. we piled (4 of us) 3 went to the people standing around and i went to the the second car. i go down in the ditch and look in and there was this dude who was totally f*cked up. his chest was split wide open and a artery was sliced because he was pumping blood all over the place. i grab a chest bandage from my first aide kit and try to stop the bleeding but there was nothing i could have done for him. he was dead a few min befor the base ambulance arrived... I had to go back to the dorm to take a shower to get the blood off me.

Both of which I've talked about on Anandtech before. Dont really feel like sharing again though I will state the obvious.

Sad music does not play in the background and (if you are ready for it) its not quite as mind-boggling or disturbing as some movies would have you think. Just sickening.

The Air Force almost sent me to Bosnia in 96. i pulled some strings and got out of it. i had seen enough of war form Panama and the first gulf war plus i was finishing classes at UND that i needed for my degree. So they said if i find another staff sergeant that was willing to take my slot im off the hook. i found one and he was most eager to go. talked to him when he got back and he saw some very disturbing things while over there. Better him than me.
