Sorry to bring this thread back to the dead.
I was first introduced to hypnotism from the graduation party.
I called shens at first, until I read the howstuffworks.com explaination on it.
My mom talked to me about hypnotism before, and I told her I was interested. Two days later, I found a book on my table, "Professional Hypnotism Manual"
I got lazy, and I was never arsed to read it.
Today during my long boring hours at work, I decided to bring it there to read it. This book is amazing.
Hypnotism is REAL without a doubt. It tells you how it works, and now I've learned how to hypnotize people 🙂
Different people have different levels of suggestibility. There are two types, Physical and Emotional suggestibility. People with physical suggestability are the ones that take information in literally, and people with emotional suggestibility are the ones that take in information inferentially.
Most people are a mix of both. A person that with high physical suggestibility, tends to take commands literally, and is easily hypnotized by literal commands, such as, "You are getting tired, and you will fall asleep"
A person with high emotional suggestibility, are the ones that can't be hypnotized at the shows. It takes special methods to hypnotize them as they need to be convinced that they are getting tired and will fall asleep.
Hypnosis works by sending lots of data to your concious mind until it can't keep up and stops functioning, allowing the hynosist to communicate with the subconcious mind. Your subconcious mind controls what you were conditioned to, to your natural and most primitive reactions(such as fight or flight), your religioius beliefs, and habits. Through hypnosis, the hypnotherapist is able to change any of the parts of your subconcious mind.
I'm only half way done with the book, it's a very interesting read. The last chapter is self-hynosis. I think I'm going to skip to that now 🙂
