My father knows a guy that drives a motorcycle that would regularily tease cops around LAX and just bust it to 100+ because he knew they couldn't do jacksh|t.

I'd think you'd be pretty f-d today if the cops were chasing you and you went into an airport.

Ran from cops a few times during HS booze parties, and I ran for about 1/2 block when I first started driving before I realized a state trooper wanted ME to pull over (expired state inspection - age 16 - I won't let it happen again!)

besides the occasional party that gets busted and i end up running across a few yards.

a few winters ago the police started to patrol the snowmobile trails in MN pretty hard, for speeding and other random stops. there've been a number of times i'll see their stupid little lights start to flicker and i just squeeze the throttle to the handlebar and hold on :)

yes, I have...the best was probably one when I wasnt even driving. Down in Indiana, there isnt much to do, so we raced alot. One time I was riding with my buddy in his truck that was all tricked out, and we were racing this pos cavalier...well we are racing down this country road and halfway down the road there are 2 cops sitting on a side street (guess we raced on that street a little too much) anyways, the cops give chase, and the road ends about a quarter mile from where we were. The car we were racing turns down the road that the one we were on dead ends into, and we just go straight, through a freakin corn field. Man, that was crazy, we drove about a quarter mile into the field, and made a couple turns, then killed the engine...waited about an hour, then took off scott free

it should be a law that if you run from the cops, they're allowed to beat the hell out of you when you're caught. i think people would think twice before running.

One of my favorite dialogs from Cops

Cop to perp: Why were you running?
Perp: Cuz you was chasin' me!

Just then a cop passes right where I'm about to pull out and flips a bitch when I turn my lights on and get on the road! My friend-in-the-front-seat screams at me, "GO, GO, GOOOOO!!!!" So me, follower that I was, obeyed my master and slammed it into first and started ripping through the gears.

So I zip through the back side of a parking lot, intending to get to the other side and pull into an empty spot. FVCK!!! Musta been a busy night at the diner cause all the spots closest to the building were full. I scan the rest of the lot (quickly) and I spot one about 120 degrees from where I'm pointed. Never do a 3-point turn while trying to evade someone. Especially when you only lead by 4 seconds.

As I coast to a stop in my spot and kill the lights, the cop finally rounds the corner and I see a shadow of my own head with blue and red lights around it in front of me as I duck. I told Agent Smith I'd had a "couple beers" over at my sister's. It was true.

"Where does she live?" Oh, crap! How am I gonna rat on my own sister?

"Somewhere on College Road, I think. She just moved there so I'm not real sure exactly." Vague enough.

So next is the breathalizer. You know if you exhale fast, it tricks the tester? I pass it with like .0008%, but it doesn't matter. I was 19 so they hit me with Minor Consumption because I admitted to drinking ANY alcohol. Lost my license for 3 months!! A long time without a car.

That sucked the big one for hence cometh the onset of winter. I was bumming rides and biking to work almost the whole time. I got my work release driver permit about 3 weeks from the end, after going through driver improvement school and paying all the fees that mysteriously appeared.

If only there'd been a parking space at the front of the Jeffrey's diner!!

3 months ain't so bad. It'd be a year over here, I think. Of course, you being 19, and .0008%, you'd have gotten off scott free since the legal age is 18 and the limit is .008% IIRC (unless you or I are adding an extra 0 somewhere ;))

I'm not sure someone could go that fast on the roads at my school.

Heh.. well it wasn't on the school roads, it was on a main street that runs in front of the school, so I don't think the rent-a-cops had any jurisdiction there anyways.

Was heading to work one day and was about a quarter mile from my company when I got hit by instant on radar by a cop driving the opposite direction. I could see him doing a u-turn behind me as I made the turn into the company driveway. Quickly found a spot in the parking lot and calmly walked right pass the front of the police car as he was driving into the lot; I was mixed in with other people headed into the building. Went upstairs and saw him circling the parking lot looking for my car but I don't think he had a good enough look when he passed it. I guess technically I wasn't evading since he never turned on his lights.

That'd have to be one pretty powerful radar jammer to block off the cops for a long enough distance. I wonder what the penalty is for getting caught with one of those?

yea, ran plenty of times on foot.

used to skate alot down in my towns main mall car park. Noticed a car had pulled in to bitch at us [and they had always said if they caught us they'd take our boards] so i ran really fast, with some friends following. hear a "GET BACK HERE" but i didn't look back and just ran. me and friends split up. i ran up to this woods bit. ditched my board, shirt, etc. went back down to a phonebox to call my friend [saw 2 cop cars drive past]. called my friend, he was at the other end of town, so i made my way down [had to go really far cause i didn't want to walk through town.
was walking down a street to the park, when a cop car drives past and gets a good look at me. When i turn round the corner i run really fast and hide behind some cars. Saw it drive past me. Am now overlooking the park and i see it drive in and my friend is now there, he ducks and it patrols around, then leaves.
the adreniline was certainly going, it was great

By legitimate I mean one that actually works, not some 99 cent store contraption. I have seen plenty of supposed radar/radio jammers as well as an array of sprays and stickers you can put over your plates that "block the radar". We all know it's full of BS. I am curious if the poster actually has seen one demonstrated to work. I doubt it.

The FCC shoves a hot poker up your bum. It only has to be powerful enough to block any cops within chasing distance. :p

Is it possible? yes, no doubt about that. Is it worth the effort? not in the least. ;)

The closest I've come is when I see a cop that I KNOW saw me going a bit too fast, maneuver just right so he ends up infront of me, then exit the freeway at a point where there's no reasonable way for him to exit. (but perfectly reasonable for me). Then I don't get on the freeway for the next 10 miles. Never tried to flat out outrun them though.

A guy at my friend's work supposedly had a nitrous kit installed in his car, and he would always get away from the cops by blasting away from them at full throttle. He had some sort of a switch that lowered his license plate (some older cars have flippable plates, my friend's '86 camaro does). He finally got caught for drinking and driving; he was too sloshed to get away so he just pulled over and lost his license for a year.

LoL.reminds me of a guy I knew freshman year in college ... had all these stories about how his car was super-hot and had radar jammers, flip-down plates, brake-light switch, etc. Claimed he actually jumped over a cop car San Francisco style when they tried to cut him off. He was also a "genius" who was only going to a "crappy state school" until his scholarship to MIT came through. Turned out he was just a habitual fraud and liar who failed out before freshman year was up ... proud member of the "square root club" (sqrt(GPA) > GPA)

In other words ... I'd take it with a large grain of salt.

I knew a guy at a place I worked last summer with a trans-am who was going 240km/h or 140mph on the highway, and cops tried to pull him over. He didn't pull over and the cops chased him until he ran out of gas. I think he told me he went to jail for 6 months and lost his license for 2 years for doing that.

IMHO, if somebody is running, and putting the general public in immediate and severe danger, as you see on some of those car chase shows, the cops should have the authority to take whatever action is required to immediately stop the car. That may mean mounting mavericks on the police choppers. They are threatening the public as surely as if they were holding a gun to someones head.

hmm...

My friends and I usually jumped the subway turnstile to get to places.... our 1000th time, two cops actully saw us and said hold it... *they werent in uniform!!* we ran like hell, luckily there was a subway in the station, it closed and off we went :) hahha.

ok pretty lame but there you go :p

oh yeah one time me and a friend got stopped after jumping a turnstile but the cops let us off cause it was raining really hard outside :)
