Have you ever ordered a beer with lunch?

Corporate policy here is no drinking if you're going back to work that day. Not really worth testing just how stupid corporate policies can be.

If bosses were they and they were drinking, I'd do it as well, but haven't seen that happen yet.

Ironically we would all share a small bottle of wine at work during the holidays. That stopped in the mid 90s when society started going to heck.

Only once, but only because it was my first time in a Japanese restaurant and my boss wanted me to try a specific beer.

Other than that I have never even witnessed someone order a beer at a work lunch, which is strange because the same people order beers after work when we go out.

I think it depends on the job. Like Surgeon, Pilot, cab driver, boat pilot - hell no. Don't drink even 1 beer and you should know better.

Application administrator (IT) - I often drink at my desk.

Next time I do a root canal, remember to ask if I had a beer for lunch. So if I can't have one, no one can have a beer for lunch if they are on the clock.

When I worked in a pub/bar we had a guy who would come in and half 3 pints (568ml UK pints) during his lunch hour, pretty much every weekday.

Depends on where you work. The policies can differ quite a bit from place to place; at my job it's a potential reason to get fired, so I don't do it if I'm going back to work that day.

I crack up when people are in my bar and are like "I've got to go back to work, I can't drink" or react funny to another co-worker having a beer or two. Relax fuckos, there is nothing wrong with having a a few drinks and then working.

There's nothing wrong with it but office policy/culture prohibits it. So that's why I wouldn't. I wouldn't care if a co-worker had a beer though, if they want to violate the policy, that's their business, I'm no snitch and I'm not one to judge.

Of course.

The fat cats in upper management do it with their three-martini lunches. No harm in having one with your meal. Helps digestion.

Only if my boss orders one first.

I worked at a "large internet retailer" for a few years and some of the VPs bought a keg and would do weekly 4pm hangouts, so it was hardly a draconion working environment, but being out at lunch on my own or with peers and being spotted with a drink would have fed the office gossip machine and simply wasn't worth the hassle.

I haven't, since I drive a company vehicle. Strict no policy environment, since my company is liable even if you aren't legally drunk. Not worth the risk of my job to have a beer over lunch.

on vacation or on the weekend... not at work.

I just about always eat lunch at my desk, and even on the rare occasions when my boss takes me out or something, I've got 0 tolerance when it comes to liquor.

Sure. I once had one and was tipsy all afternoon. No one gives a shit, and it's not like I'm going back completely wasted.

I even brought in hard liquor for last year's office Christmas party and was VERY relaxed all day🙂.

On one of my jobs several years ago, me & coworkers would go get faced before coming back to work at the end of the day.
Generally everyone would have left by 5p so we'd just show up later after everyone left.
We were technically still on the clock until we dropped the work van off at the warehouse.
We didn't start doing this until we realized it was a dead-end job & no matter how excellent of work we did for them, we were still going to be treated like/paid dirt.
Was a 6mo contract, they dropped our entire team soon as those 6mo were up.

Still haven't worked a job where I've been shown "hard work pays off".

I did this the other day with coworker on my current job, but drank 1 weak pansy beer from a brewpub. I don't think I even got a buzz, but it tasted good.

Store I'm working at now has liquor store next door. The owner is always trying to reward me with letting me have drinks as payment. I keep turning him down, mostly because we haven't resolved all their issues. But I'll let the offers pile up, so soon as we resolve all their current issues, I'll be able to walk out with a big expensive bottle for the whole office. :awe:

Aren't you the dude that sleeps on the shitter? You work in a bar? Do you sleep in those nasty bar bathrooms?
