Have you ever offended anyone at the work place?

my coworker, who is perceived to be a slacker and calls in sick a lot, said that he might call in sick next week the day after new years. so i just responded by saying, "a little tickle in your throat, eh?" then he said "what do you mean by that?" and i could tell by his tone he sounded a bit offended and i kinda brushed him off...

i don't think i did anything that bad... but what are some things you've done to offend people at your work place?

is he gay?

I think the next time you see him you should say something along the lines of, "hey, sorry if I offended you the other day, but if you want a little tickle in your throat, I might be able to help," while making not-so-subtle indications towards your groin. That'll make it right.

Next thread: Have you ever done anything in the work place that you're not really proud of?

ive had a few complaints about my cursing. most people dont care, but a couple of the older, uptight wimmin have bitched *shrug*

Have I? Probably. Do I care? Not particularly. If you cannot handle a little office banter, then you shouldn't be working in an office.

LOL
What's less effeminate than working in an office?

my first job out of college, i was walking through the human resources lobby
and met an attractive woman who was quite friendly. after talking for about
5 minutes, i asked her for her phone number.

turned out she was interviewing for the VP Human Resources position.

Yes, I have offended a girl I thought I was friends with. I used to send links and the articles from the stupid news storys here (like the island of Lesbos protesting about people thinking lesbians live there or something like that... I don't remember what exactly it was) to a group of coworkers I talked to (about 10). Well one day she comes over and the convo goes something like this:

Her: Please don't send me inappropriate emails at work
Me: What email was inappropriate?
Her: I'm not going to get into specifics, but if you think it's inappropriate don't send it to me
Me: I obviously didn't think any of them were inappropriate, because I wouldn't have sent it if I did. What email are you talking about?
Her: Just don't send me inappropriate emails, you have sent 3 in the past week and I don't appriciate it. So please stop.
Me: Okay, since I don't know what's inappropriate apparently I'll stop sending you emails
Her: No, that's not what I'm saying. Just if you think they shouldn't be sent at work don't send them.
Me: Okay, I'll stop sending any email to you that's not directly related to our job.

I later found out that the Lesbos article was one of the ones that she found "inappropriate" and took offense to. I haven't talked to her since.

i tread lightly at work.
i dont want to be THAT person ya know?
tho earlier this year i was offended by someone who left a rude note for me at work.
i told her i was extremely hurt and saddened by the note.
lawl..she felt awful afterwards!😀

Not that I know of, but the other day I also did.

A woman here looks like a man from behind, and I almost said "Excuse me sir.", but instead I said "Excuse me" to get her attention.
I didn't know who it was until she turned around. 🙂

Can you get in trouble at work by using the wrong title for someone?

You sure can. I referred to my boss as asshole and he didn't seem to care for it.

It's funny how that works...it's not like you lied or anything...maybe he was just mad you didn't call him "asshole, sir."

Lame...

This is why i enjoy working in IT, I don't get mad...... I get even.

not coworkers.. but i think other customers...
i was a tutor at this tutoring center..
so i had this highschool senior student, this funny jocular black kid.
so he asks me what animal i'd like to be if i had to choose
i said lion... since they sleep for 20hrs a day, and their lionesses bring them food, and they have sex nonstop in the spring.

The next day, my boss told me that someone complained about me about something i said.
they said i said that my ideal gf is someone who brings me food and has sex with me all day.
:facepalm;

i guess it was a bit inappropriate eitherway with so many kids there at the tutoring center to mention anything about sex.

I just saw one male co-worker offend a female co-worker LOLOL He was discussing the cowboys and went to use an analogy about his wife not feeding his kids and getting upset to another female co-worker. She immediately cut him off, the guy is cool and he didnt mean to make it sound chauvinistic, however the way it came out did. So he back-pedaled and re-explained what he meant. In front of her, I told him he was lucky she wasnt the type to go complain to HR instead of taking care of it with him haha

I've probably offended people dozens of time. As long as you don't offend the wrong people it doesn't matter. People need to be offended.
