Have you ever noticed almost every SUV crash you see on the interstate, it's flipped upside down?

I used to think the rollover problem wasn't a big deal , figured it was
exaggerated ...

but today I saw two seperate accidents on the freeway
where an SUV was flipped. Then, after thinking about it, I realized
almost every crash I've seen on the interstate where an SUV was involved
it was flipped over or on its side.

I'm not an SUV hater, nothing against them personally ... Except the really large
ones (Excursion, H2, etc.) are obnoxious cause they take up too much space
for on street parking ... Just thought it was weird that SUV's really do flip so much,
cause I haven't noticed pick up trucks flipped over that much...

Does the roof of an SUV really screw up the center of gravity, or something ?

Maybe the roof does have something to do with it - the extra steel would make it more top heavy, I think. Of course, then you migh wonder why pickups with caps don't flip, but I believe those are made from fiberglass and other materials that are lighter. Also, I think that as a general rule an SUV sits higher than an equally-sized pickup, unless you have a z71/fx4/ etc - equipped 4x4.

I've seen a few SUVs that flipped over 'cause they're doing the round about/loop at high speeds. Idiots. That's the problem w/ some people driving SUVs, they think they're driving a car, but they are not.
