Have you ever met in person someone you'd met online?

I am sure this question has been asked here before......but I'd like to hear some takes on it. How long did you know this person online before you met them, and was it a good or bad experience?
Thanks.

Yes, a girl. Spent a whole week with her...twice! And if went really, really well.

the only problem is the distance, so it never worked out. After that disappointment I vowed never to do the long distance thing ever again. Now I'm quite happy with my g/f who is HERE :)

Long distance relationships can be hell, fortunately for us at the time I was making enough money to afford for her to fly out about every other weekend. Northwest Airlines loved us. :p
We were doing that exactly one year. (I drove out to pick her up and got there the exact day we had met 1 year before)
Admittedly we were not the norm in ld relationships but I'm very happy that it worked out.

<< Yep and I married her. :)
Met a number of online friends in person too.

Did you fall in love with her online or after you met her?

Several. And I'll marry one of them in the future :). Meaning: I found my GF from the net.

For me, it was after we met.

IMO...Meeting someone on line and chatting via IM or phone and becoming friends is one thing, but I don't think you can really fall in love until you meet in person and see what they are really like.

Good question, I suppose so, but based on what had happened to me in the past I was hesitant to do much about anything until I met her. I had already had a couple of disastrous times of meeting women online only to find out they changed their mind and decided it wouldn't work or were f**king psychos. I went half expecting that she would tell me something like it's not the same in person or something like that and I'd go home hurt or confused.
We went to see a movie (Star Wars Episode 1) and I was being pretty calm about it not doing anything. She on the other hand was leaning her arm against mine (the hint hint thing) and about halfway though the movie I got the idea, and we were holding hands through the rest of the movie. For the life of me until I saw it on DVD didn't remember much about the second half of the movie. :)
I'd have to say that was the point where my life was to change for the better.
Mind you not everyone has good luck in meeting women online and for me it took a few tries, went through a lot of pain and misery, but in the end it worked out for me I guess.

Not really, met people online at my local LAN party site and then met them in person at the next LAN but I don't think that really counts.

I met a couple of women from online. 1.) She seemed real interested after our first date. We met at Uno's and then went bowling until 2 A.M. I tried for a kiss but got denied. Then I went on a warpath trying to score another date. I think she got kinda scared. We went to the zoo for the Christmas lights but she didn't say a word the whole time. Very bad. Never heard from her again.
2.) This other girl turned about to a real kook. We talked for MONTHS online, we exchanged pics and all that. SHe was a cutie. So we met. And then she talked about the Sims the whole time and how she made a character for her and Justin Timberlake and made them get married and made them........you get the idea. That was over dinner. When I dropped her off at her car, we said our goodbyes and left. Later, she told me that she would've had sex with me in her car if I had proceeded. But I had standards. We didn't talk much after that. Two months later, I'm flying back from Joplin and I'm layed over in St. Louis. Standing on the people mover and I see this girl coming up. It was freaking her! I couldnt' believe it. Of all places to run into this chick again. My friend was with me and he got to see first hand how kooky she was. She still wanted me, but I had already moved on with my now wife.

Gotta watch those internet hookups. Sometimes they pan out. Most of the time though, you just meet weirdos.

there was a dude my (real) friend and I talked to on a MUD occasionally who lived nearby, we always joked that each other were going to go hang out with him, that's in California. So I'm out with some buds in Illinois, and somehow I establish that one of the folks in the group is the very same guy. Which is odd because I generally don't ever mention that fact that I used to MUD in public.

Turned out to be a pretty cool guy, if a little unstable.

This entire thread cracks me up. It's totally the opposite of a thread that was posted a few weeks ago. I remember someone posting a thread about meeting someone online and then hooking up with them in person, then getting dumped on. Just about every single person replied with something to the effect of "only losers and creeps meet women online" and "only people that can't get laid in real life are on the net". Yet now in this thread all these people are coming out of the woodwork "yah it's all good"... "I met my wife online".

Yup. Talked with her for 15 months, then flew out to spend a week with her.

First time: 8 days
Second time: 8 days
Third time: 10 days
Fourth time: 8 days

Looking at 10 days again for this summer.

I met a kid from my campus that was playing on the same Quake III server... not the same thing. Turned out all he did was talk about how much computer info he had and played the whole 'can you top this' game the whole time we talked in person. Just pissed me off... can't stand that.
