Have you ever kissed anyone on the lips with bad breath...

... and what was it like?

Sometimes I worry about having bad breath and what it would be like for the girl if she kissed me on the lips....

Ask Mrs. Skoorb 🙂 I think the answer is yes.

I would guess it's not nice. What I'd recommend is a fresh brushing and chewing gum like a hound-dog.

You know, surprisingly not. I've known some guys with EXTREMELY bad breath, as if they'd just eaten a pile of horse sh1t or something... but i've never really met a girl with bad breath. I've kissed girls with smokers breath, but if they're smoking, i would have a smoke or two too, so that wouldn't bother me (not like any of them were heavy smokers anyways).

Yeh, my fiancee in the morning. Morning breath...yeck!!!

But I get her back when I drink a six pack of beer and eat a bag of funyions (sp?) mwahahah!

Now you've met another! Some times "brushing teeth" just doesn't cut it and you have to resort to extreme measures. I still have yet to get a good way from the dentist on how to truly freshen my breath such that it doesn't degenerate shortly after brushing. I'm aware of it though and do what I can.

Hey skoorb, do you brush your tongue. Yes, I said your tongue. And not just the tip, you gotta reach all the way back in there to the point where it makes you gag. You can buy special "tongue" brushes that are very wide and have a different sort of bristles to them. Anywhoo, there are lots of nasties that like to build up on your tongue and can wreck havoc on your breath.

My Mom was a dental assistant for 20 years and recommends this to people.

Gimme your mom's email addy!

Not only do I have to brush it but I take a swiss army blade to it as well. Brushing only freshens it a bit, but truly to fix it up I have to scrape the nasties off that spawn like you wouldn't believe. I'm 100% convinced that if I could find a way to remove all the "white stuff" that builds up on the tongue that combined with a normal teeth brushing would fix my breath. Unfortunately I can only remove most of the stuff and not all, so i scrape it then clean teeth and brush tongue. It's not anything in my stomach (so breath asure is crap) - it's that tongue stuff. What I'd really like is some mouth wash that kills the bacteria on the tongue because I'm sure that's the ticket.

hehe... i personally ALWAYS have a tin of altoids on me.. and ALWAYS have one in my mouth when in any social setting (including school)... two in my mouth when my gf is with... so even if she has taco breath or something, i have enough good breath to go around

Skoorb, have you tried a tongue scrapper? (I know it sounds hidious, but it works)

If your teeth and gums are healthy, and you don't suffer from frequent heartburn or have diabetes, this is the most likely cause of halitosis (bad breath).

Basically, the bacteria that causes foul breath resides on the tongue far back near it's base in the throat. These are anarobic bacteria, and die when exposed to O2. They release foul gasses (sulfides) that cause bad breath.

The key is to disrupt this plaque-like layer and scrape this stuff off the tongue, removing most of the bacteria, and exposing the rest to O2.

There is also a mouthwash they sell to be used in conjuction with the scrapper. Normal, over the counter mouthwash is useless, as it doesn't penitrate the plaque on on the inaccessable parts of the tongue that cover and hide the bacteria from the air.

Yeah I use my penknife but I can't get all the way back. Where can I get a regular tongue scraper with this pimp mouthwash?

Another cause of bad breath is sinus problems.

My mom constantly has sinus infections and has horrible breath because of it. One time I was driving her in my car and I couldn't help but notice the smell. It smelled like something took a crap and died in my car. It causes me to be self conscious with my breath too -- especially since my sinuses seem to be acting up (I'm starting to have problems with phlem -- like the sinuses are dripping into my throat).

Anyways, my mom recently had a sinus operation (where they clean out the infected sinus tissue) and I don't notice that horrible smell anymore.

I'm worried that as I get older I'll develop the same problems and have stinky breath...

<< It's called Listerine, folks. Use it. >>

Second that. That crap burns like hell for a while, but you'll have halitosis no more. If you have chronic halitosis, you might have elongated filiform papillae. The little bumps will catch "oral debris", build up all kinds of nasties, and exert an odor from your mouth so noxious that even a feces eating dog would envy.

I onced kissed my ex-girlfriend on the lips with bad breath. The only exception was that it was her vaginal lips, and it was quite disgusting. I broke up with her soon afterwards, to be sure.

<< << Haven't kissed anyone on the lips yet. >>

no one? ever?

lame.

I've never kissed anyone either. I come from a family that doesn't hug or kiss.

I'm not sure I have any real medical problems...in the mornings my breath smells like a monkey took a dump in my mouth, but after a good scraping, teeth cleaning, and eager chewing of gum I am able to get it 100% fresh - as long as I still chew the gum 🙂

Geeze, lets not get started on how bad coffee, icecream, and milk get me!

<< Yeah I use my penknife but I can't get all the way back. >>

You scrape your tongue with a knife??? That's some hardcore sh!t! Do you shave with a Bowie Knife too? 😛 😀

Well, that kind of bad breath (known as Halitosis) is caused by bacterias at the back of the tongue. I remember a 20/20 show a few years ago that did a special on it, with different kind of solutions, some where vitamin supplements, and one was actually a prescription drug i believe.

I don't think alcohol base mouthwash is effective... and infact, might be worst because it dries it out. You want ones with chlorine dioxide.
