Have you ever had a folder that wouldn't obey you?

Every folder on my HDD is set to sort by Type, and Show in Groups. When sorted by Type, it breaks them up into file formats, and organizes each file extension group in alphabetical order.

Except for on my jump drive, where it always, every single time, no matter how many times I change it back, shows them in reverse alphabetical order.

Huh? That's not even an option. It's actually quite frustrating.

At work, we have folders that refuse to be renamed. Not even a permissions issue, it's just some kind of Windows glitch.

It's annoying, because I know where to look for my folders based on their name. But as soon as I start navigating my jump drive it all goes upside-down.

Oh, well, yes, by clicking the column a second time. Not in the menu, though.

So how do I change this?

have one folder on my parents pc that does not show file names or subfolder names, so you have to either click on it and read the info on the left, or mouseover to figure out what the file is.

I dunno, but every time I close Winamp and then reopen it, it ALWAYS starts in a certain album folder (that I haven't been in for months) and won't remember the last folder. :/

Quite annoying.

I once had a folder that would not delete. I could delete the contents, but the folder itself would not delete....it said it wasn't even there. But it was....I was looking right at it. geh.

use xPlorer 2 lite. It remembers your sorting preference by pane, not by folder, so you set it to your prefs once and its like that forever.

and it never hangs, and it has dual pane, and it does tabbed browsing. woot.

I crack the mythical whip that I found in a flavor of Linux and explorer has bowed to me ever since. those pesky folders all stay in their place, staying exactly how I want them too. and no, I will not give out where I got my whip.
