have you ever driven an ambulance?

when i was in the Navy, the last place i was stationed was a land-based training facility with several nuclear power plants.
to save money, the DOE only had paramedics on site, but not a civilian ambulance driver, so the Navy guys took turns as the "ambulance driver" , if a person was injured during your watch as ambulance driver, you had to drive the paramedics and the hurt dude to the hospital

this is how i got to drive an ambulance, about 3-4 times (i was stationed there for 3.5 years) .

one time they forgot to tell me to turn the flashing lights off, i never transported anyone with a life threatening injury, so they didn't like to make the people living near the place nervous by having an ambulance leave a nuclear facility with the flashing lights going.

they also sometimes dont like going sirens, as it can make the patient nervous and change vital signs

I've moved an F-550 based ambulance once. A total of 50 feet (Across the street, was helping set up a VFC event)

And I drive a GMC Vandura 2500 (Vice City's ambulances are based on that chassis) and a GMC Sierra 2500 with ambulance shocks.
